Cell phones- forget about it , they put you on hold for hours eating up your time an never re-embusing a dime for it. I used the payphones when i had to call them, never used my own phone.

Use and file a long form at tax time. Truck drivers also are allowed perdiem for away from home expences

I used a seperate cellphone for company only business and deducted it off my taxes. You could to.

knight will screw you right off the jump. Go back a few pages an see what they done to me. The orientation is a joke. 3 days to road test 8 drivers. The recruiters could not answer many questions asked. You will spend most of your time confused because they are confused. They will send you home at the end of orientation because that is when they submit your ap to safety. I was sent home cause I had been off the road for over 2 years, which was apparent before i went to KC, knight is a joke. [don't go]

Nobody likes a dirty filthy truck driver. I know I don't. But yet Knight forces fueling at the terminals. That's fine, it reduces cost and leaves more money for the drivers not to receive but one shower at the terminals that hasn't been cleaned this year? It's the little things, like lack of bathing, that really blow about Knight.

Getting your truck serviced at another terminal? Forget it don't even bother. They act like your from a different company and will not get to you today.

I made 41k at Knight last year. Had I only worked 5 days a week and been off every weekend that would have been acceptable but that wasn't quite the case. Well really I only worked 4 or 5 days a week stayed out a few weeks but it was always the same..."I'm working on it" I used to get ticked when my DM would go home for the weekend and leave me hanging.

Eight new drives and I cared for them like they were my own. 125k miles and they were only halfway done. I picked up a nail in one of them and they replaced all eight drives with severely worn 2/32nds. Was that punishment for something? (This is were Knighton comes in and says "guess you didn't perform a reach around while takin care of business!! LOL")

Every Friday it was the same...a 500 mile load picked up in the morning with a Monday delivery. Deliver early, but your just going to wait anyways. So put forth the effort or not, no one really cares at Knight.

2/32nds? You got lucky! Try getting tires that caught some sort of cancer, and have those weird balding spots here and there. You'll have state police scratching their heads, and trying to determine if you should get a citation for either bald tires, 1/32nd, or 2/32nd. Nah forget it, we're suspending your licence for trying to take one up the rear for your company!

But you still have to pay the phone bill . . . you are still out the actual cost minus the tax deduction.

Knight used to have a retired DOT cop working at the Indianapolis Terminal. Met him at the terminal dropping off some trailers that belonged to them. Guy didn't like truckers and was walking around the yard looking for something wrong so he could bust a driver...real piece of work

I currently drive for Knight, I am fortunate to have landed a great driver manager. I run fair and great loads. My only complaint really is the no idling policy, all though everywhere I go you see Knight trucks idling always. Here we are in the hot months of the year and no way to keep cool except by idling the trucks. We are penalized for trying to keep comfortable when we are parked, we lose out on raises and the on-board computer decreases our already governed speed after so many percentage time on our idle time. I don't idle much and run 66mph, but then we are decreased to 64 and some drivers are telling me they run 61. I am always accepting loads and going where ever the frieght goes, but sucks when I park, gets so hot in these trucks, why not install APU's on the trucks? Being cheap and not caring about us drivers is the answer to that. But we do have bunk heaters, lol.
