As far as coffee and such instead of a drive thru how about doing it the sonic way and have someone bring it out. You would just have to install one of those intercom systems. And have some girls to bring it to the truck. On second thought I don't think the poles with the intercom wood stay standing long enough.

Like I said earlier, SW, that location would have helped me a lot when I was OTR. I like the idea, and it is easy to get in and out of that property.

You'd call your coffee order in with you CB on channel 5 or something then the roller-girl would bring it out to you.

That's a hell of a good idea. Hot chicks bringing out hot coffee!:yes2557:

No wait, on second thought, that's a bad idea. I might die of a caffeine overdose and/or get fired for being late to my appointment. And my wife would wanna know why I spent $735 on coffee in one week.:biggrin_25513:

A car hop would have the life expectancy of a frog on the freeway. You really can't mix that in safely. Maybe a walk window for driver, they need to walk anyways.

Thats a good one...only the skates would have to be modified with fenders of some kind to keep urine from thrown up their legs and all over them....and some kinda cattle guard on the front to plow through the occasional trash-pile......

You will not be able to pay for paving, showers, security, lights, property, and so on by selling just food. Perhaps a tire shop, CB shop, barber, small mechanic's bay, broker's office, shine shop, chrome shop,a "SAFE HAVEN" for placarded loads, all in areas furnished by you but rented out to the provider. And there is nothing wrong with paying for extended parking if you leave your truck there. I do not mind paying a coupla bucks to park in a secure lot over-night.

I think you have a good idea. What I would do is just have a kiosk to get shower codes and charge a low fee like 3 dollars for showers. then add coin operated laundry. and ALOT of those new vending machines that take cash coin and credit cards. so it would be like a convenience store without having to pay the staff. also get a redbox. I wish all truck stops had redboxes. If we knew that their was a redbox at say all pilots. we would use the hell out of them. because then we would know we could return the next night no matter where we land. Also on the truck wash idea I would make it as wash bays like the ones they have for cars but tall and wide enough for trucks. my company only gives me one wash per month. and alot of times I just want to use a high pressure washer just to knock the bugs off the front. But I am sure other would love the high pressure soap and all. To keep the trash down and to make parking for bobtails I would say single deep parking spots with a light pole, dumpster, and just enough room for a bobtail so. also single rows are great because 2 bobtails can fit in one spot without blocking each other in. Also if one wanted I would say porta pots in those same rows as the dumpsters and light poles. Thus hopefully if they are say every 10-15 spaces people might use them instead of the pavement. Or just say screw the pavement and just have a large dirt parking lot. Just some ideas.

basicly what i need in a truck stop is clean restrooms and showers. i would pay $5, $10 for a shower. it is this drivers worst nightmare to have to use a nasty bathroom. that is really the most important thing for me and i'm sure many others agree. food is good too. but im really getting tired of the price gouging for bad food that most truck stops have to offer. red box movie rentals are great finds! and maybe a place to lightly maintain your truck. (windshield cleaning, air for tires, and such.) you really need to work hard to keep up after everything though, cause alot of these drivers out here are slobs and will destroy everything. you know what else would be sweet is a basketball court and maybe a dog park. exercise is good. truckers love horeshoes. thanks for letting me put my two cents in and hopefully we'll see you soon in anderson. i would gladly pay to get in to a lot like that.
