Well, there is the software issue, and then there is the issue with the QC systems not being installed correctly, and then troubleshooted. I've heard of domes falling off brand new trucks, the QC systems not powering on, and the QC not talking to the domes. Missing equipment, not stocked equipment, and some new trucks are being issued without DOT safety equipment on board.

    It's a complete mess.

    Li'l update.

Fleet message from Joliet a couple of weeks back was, "Everyone will be on elogs by next Wednesday (the 11th, I think, not important), NO EXCUSES!

Fine, I was in Phoenix (surely we can get QC-HOS problems fixed there, at Knight World Headquarters, right?), but the only thing I got replaced was a faulty keyboard. Still, I signed on to the elog thing.

Except for a few minor glitches, it worked well for about 10 days. Some days, no edits needed, some days, 1 or 2 minor edits. I can live with that.

Then, the bottom fell out. "No coverage" messages 12-36 times a day, etc., etc.

Back on paper logs now. Supposed to be being routed to a shop, but after being in a shop over half a dozen times for QC-HOS malfunctions, I am not holding my breath for a solution this time.

I can understand problems when switching to a radically new system of doing things, but this is getting a bit ridiculous.

It hasn't affected my miles (except for the time in the shop, and I can use a break every now and then) yet, but it's beginning to be like watching a train wreck in slow motion.

Somebody has to know what's going on, right?

I ran illegal as hell to make 42k at Knight. Not by breaking my 70, not enough freight for that, but by completely disregarding the 14 hour rule. Five hours on a dock for 280 mile run tends to hurt your productivity. Combine that with the endless unpaid time looking for an empty trailer, how is Knight going to compensate drivers for the lost wages? Do they just expect you take a cut in pay? Or are they just going to continue hiring new drivers for their Squire training program? Inquiring minds want to know.

Got a new (replacement, anyway) dome (what I requested the first time I wrote the problem up), and elogs now work fine. Actually kind of like them, would love them if the 14 hr rule would be modified.

I've got a great dispatcher, utilizes my hours efficiently, and listens to me when I am tired or whatever. I scratch his back, he scratches mine, for the most part. Not perfect all the time, but mostly.

Always get paid for "the great trailer hunt", if I have to go on one.

Sorry if I am content with Knight. :biggrin_2559:
