Well 55 mph is for the birds.... The 30 mph head wind wasn't real good either! It is quiet.... Dark.... Lonely..... Wet..... Windy..... Cold..... and I'm thinking I'm gonna have to idle to keep warm!

Nope! Still a local road.... A local gravel road.... Remember, I was going to a wind farm!

i've heard that before. In fact, I've had a help wanted sign hanging on my chest for 7 years now. I guess nobody wants the job.... And well...... I have always been told that of you want the job done correcty, sometimes you have to take matters into your own hands & get it done!

Ok, im on board now. I have driven through that area quite a few times, and I sure as heck couldnt remember a truck stop in there. not on the specific road you are on, but within a couple of miles where you are.

I should give Redd a bit of credit here. When I first started talking about driving, he and several others were very adamant about an Atlas. It was one of the first things I bought, and I used it daily, no matter what my GPS told me. My atlas was by my phone at all times. I didn't realize how much I had come to depend on it until I took my last load. I packed light, which meant I left my atlas at home, and I missed it, even though I knew where I was going.

Teddy Bear, I am going to throw something at you I am adimate about.

I have about 3 different computer programs I use, PC miler, Google Earth and Microsoft streets and trips, they have been invaluable. I havent bought a paper atlas in years.

When planning to get into my destination I will use a combination of mostly Google Earth and Streets and trips to find where im going, and PC Miler is nice for getting your mileage for each state so you can turn it in for your taxes.

I really like street view on google earth, when you are going to a location you have never been to before, it helps a ton when you can pull it up and see what the building/area looks like, or what the exit looks like, and it will often give you info you cant get on a map, like a no left turn sign, or a median barrrier that will prevent you from turning, or even a low overhang.

I think you are correct, I ran out of fuel one night going across 221 up in Washington going around the POE, it was about 20 below, that sucked.
