I hate to use them for the reasons Injun and Mr Beast pointed out and my company reimburses for ALL toll roads that don't accept EZ Pass. I also have a Pike Pass, K-Tag, and Dallas Tollway Tag. It's the principal of the whole thing.
I was on I-385 outside of Greenville SC last Thursday morning. At 0800 I was the only truck out there AND I saw less than 10 cars while on it. The toll collector wasn't even in the booth, she strolled out of the main office after I pulled up. Don't spend my $4.75 in one place.

The only toll roads I have no problem with are the ones in Oklahoma. Nobody asked those Indians if they could build a road on their land, through their reservation. It was just assumed (here we go again) by the US guv'mint that they could put a road any bloody where they wanted. Bunch of Indians got together and made a human blockade of the roads until the US guv'mint gave them permission to toll them...along with the responsibility for maintaining them.
I don't mind paying those tolls because it's kind of like a private citizen telling the guv'mint to go pound sand. Works for me... -
I didnt know that, what stretch of road is that?
-
Really the only toll roads I take that arent reimbursed by the company is the I-80 toll road through indiana and Ohio because out of all times when we've had to take it, we've had to go east or west through those two states and its just easier to go straight through rather than dip down on that Highway 30 through ft wayne then back up through ohio. If we can avoid it without going too terribly out of route, then we do but like I said, if we're in illinois goin to pennsylvania for example, we really have no choice but to take it. But at least with us, its a tax writeoff.....
All the other tolls we take on a regular basis that dont take EZ-Pass are the I-70 through Kansas, the I-44 through Oklahoma, and the Florida Turnpike. We pay for them first, then the company reimburses us.Easy E Thanks this. -
The Indians blockaded what is now Indian Nations Turnpike. However, I will travel I-44 in Oklahoma as well without complaining too much. I don't think the price is too out of this world. Not like PA, anyway.

Really wish that one was a reimbursable toll road sometimes but 69 really isnt all that bad, I spose.....
-
I always avoid the toll roads as much as possible. PA is just ridiculous as well as NYC. All of the tolls come out of my bottom line....
-
I have used that road a couple of times now that I think about it, and you know what, it wont bug me to do it again now that I know.Injun Thanks this.

Any increases in tolls for roads or bridges should also be accompanied with a toll surcharge to the freight bill, just like a fuel surcharge, and paid to whoever is actually paying the toll.
