Yeah, BMI is such a joke. my old doc at the V.A who used the bmi religously, got pissed when i told her that according to the bmi, arnold scwarzenegger wouldve qualified as obese when he was doing mr.universe

If you look at the origins of this measure aka BMI it was developed way back in the 1800s when people were decidedly lighter and shorter than they are now. It's just a very inaccurate and bogus way of measuring shape and size. Of course the chuckleheads in govt can only do a one size fits all determination of whether you're obese or not.
just out of interest I measured mine and surprise, surprise, I'm overweight according to this. My BMI is 25.9 so yikes I'd better excercise and go on a crash diet.
but if you saw me you'd realize how stupid this measure is. should we be surprised when the dummies of govt are too lazy to come up with something that could be deemed up to date, instead of something that was devised centuries ago.

BMI is the biggest joke. My own personal doctor told me that it was the stupidest thing he has ever seen.

What is a better measure is the percentage of fat to body weight and size. A measure that the body building world stick to. Even they say that the BMI measure/theory is bogus and totally inaccurate. But it takes a little work to figure it out unlike the BMI test which is simple, despite being totally inaccurate. That's why most fit sports stars would be deemed overweight. Their percent of fat to total weight is way down, as low as 4% I have to surmise that muscle weighs more than fat so BMI would be totally skewed but as usual those meatheads in Govt go for the antiquated method which throws many of us under the bus. BTW the average % of fat to body weight for the average guy runs around 17%-20% approx? anything over that you can get into the perimeters of overweight and obesity. Thus neck size has really nothing to do with anything. But the medical world just love to make up stuff as they go along. IMHO
    Good luck

    They sound like my numbers.

To not be obese I would have to loose about 90 pounds and be skin and bones. Granted I would like to loose some weight but it is hard and I like to eat.
