Idiot 4 wheeler cell phone using problem solved.
Could be as entertaining as well as those devices that you activate to set off speeder's radar detecter lol. -
truckerdave,
I did not misunderstand the ISSUE at all, I am just amazed that many people are upset by a LAW that is Common sense. We would not need a Law if People would use common sense, People getting mad or angry of Lawmakers putting a law in place due to the FACT that Grown Men and Women have not shown good use of Common sense.
Laws are made to control people who can not control themselves, Police have to enforce laws due to the FACT that People will not Police themselves, if IN a Perfect World people USED common Sense, we would need neither.
Laws against the use of Cell Phones in Car and Trucks, are no different than Speeding Laws, Overweight Laws or for that matter GUN laws. And I am A HUGE Defender of the Second amendment, and all the others that enforce out RIGHTS as Americans.
Please do not mis read my Reply, But understand that IF Responsible adults used the Communications devices in the ways they were intended and Did not KILL people while doing so we would not have these laws.
More people were killed by people using CELL Phones and TEXTING last year than by drunk drivers. Now that Speaks TONS alone, any person who argues that they want the right to Text and Drive a CMV should simply seek other employment. Driving a truck for 23 years I have yet to see where there is a need to text and Drive, nor so I see WHY any Driver should be distracted by a CELL Phone. But then again with all the Steering wheel holders out on the road with the attitude of Billy Big Rigger, I can see why they argue to be able to do what they want, as they continue to ruin the image of the Trucker. So if you choose to argue with my reply you are one of those who are part of the problem and not willing to be part of the Solution.
Think Long and hard before you reply are YOU a Professional, or are you a Steering wheel holder who care about no one but himself/herself ?truckerdave1970 and jonboy29 Thank this. -
Eventually there will be jamming devices in the truck along with EOBR's and cameras to watch and record your every move. I heard a rumor that they soon will be outsourcing American truck driving jobs to India. They are working on a robot type thing (with cameras for eyes) to sit in the driver's seat and operated remotely in India. There will be no steering wheel any more, it will be a joy stick remotely controlled. The air and electric lines for the trailer will be connected at the 5th wheel which will coupled and uncoupled by electric switch. The landing gear will be operated by air as well, so it's totally plausible that your job will be outsourced in the very near future.

DocHoliday,
I see your point and agree with most of what you say EXCEPT I do believe that, no matter what the question is, more government, more police, more regulations IS NEVER THE RIGHT ANSWER!!! -
Creates more problems.
Think a little deeper here. Where will they go? -
TruckerDave We Both Seem to agree on that LESS Government, Less is better.
-
Anywhere but where we're all driving.....
-
To the Point, what about 4 wheelers ? Is the ruling another slap at truck drivers ? Sure it should be illegal but it sure discriminates when 4 wheelers are not included.

.
I refer to laws like this as "Stupid Laws". Not because they are absurd, cuz they are.
But they're passed to protect "stupid" people.
People who aren't quite smart enough to understand that SOME things in life increase your chances of dying....by 500%.
I wonder how many "health nuts" have been killed while texting? All the while thinking they were smarter than the average Joe, because they took better care of their body.Working Class Patriot Thanks this.
