yea i know rug trucker the highest inverter you can have on swift trucks is 300 or 400 watts just enough for a tv and dvd player so there goes the fridge and micro was looking at a 12 v micro but if your friend had problems with his then i'll have second thoughts on getting one. yea iv'e heard that the volvos had wiring prblems as well as particulate filter problems and some kind of engine problems can't remember what kind of engine problems though off the top of my head. yes i'm very aware that recruiters lie if i had a penny for each one told me a diffent line to get me to choose them id'e be rich lol. as far as the ( apu ) thing goes i heard rumors that there only gonna be mandatory in older trucks and thats in calf i don't know about other states but the new trucks are clean burning so you just have it tested and get a sticker for your hood stating it meets emmisions.

My first truck, an '05 Volvo, had optiidle. if that isnt what you call it, i dunno, but it had a PAS switch and a control panel in the bunk.

as far as inverters, it can be however big you want..............as long as it plugs into a cigarette lighter. Anything hard-wired onto the batteries, and you're a company driver? automatic termination. I havent tried a flat screen TV in the truck...how many watts do those things take?? the only TV i had was a boob-tube.....but the inverter i have couldn't take it.

Shops have this sign that says "not responsible for items left in the truck"....yeah.....BULL SHATNER.

Yea those signs make me nervous for my personal items when the truck goes into the shop along with other signs that drivers are not allowed to hang out and birddog the mechanics to make sure nothing is taken out. I can't wait to lease one of their brand new trucks; I've heard the mechanics give priority and respect to those drivers.

RT is right. My first truck, an 03 Columbia had Optidle, as did the 04 and 06 I later had. Turned in an 04 for a brand new 07 Volvo without Optidle. You had to babysit the controls for about three minutes until idle shutdown started flashing on the dash and then step on the clutch for about fifteen seconds until the override showed. Then it'd idle as long as you need it to. My idle time ran about 10%, but it was a pretty mild summer. When I did have to idle, I always sent in a written message over the QC stating why I was idling. (Once, it was because even with the Webasto heater going, the -5 and high wind still kept the cab cold enough to freeze water.) They never gave me any grief over idle time.

Winter is no issue at my company, at least when it is really cold.
Any time temps get below 20 we have a company policy that the drivers must leave the trucks running.
Even if you are at home for the weekend, we are supposed to leave it running all weekend.
Which I really do not like to do. I have been pressing and pressing to get ICON on the truck, at least for the engine management mode, so it keeps the engine warm and the battery's up. But I don't have to leave my keys in the truck.
    No luck so far.
In summer we either sweat and do not sleep, or we run the trucks. Our top speed goes down if idle is too high. So many of our trucks are running 60 and 62 lol.

I have a Webasto heater in this truck. But it was wired incorrectly and will only work if the key is in the "on" position. Kinda defeats the purpose, yeah?

It was one of the problems I was trying to get fixed today. I was told it wouldn't be done until morning. My response was "Whhaaa???? Gimme my keys back."

hey...let me ask you for your opinion (and if u care to give it to me, great, if not....dont bother me...)

If you had your choice of stepping into a takeover lease of a 2010 KW 900 or getting into a brand new In'tonal ProStar....what would u do....

i've heard the moon is made of cheese too. I've also heard the world is going to end 12-21-12. I also heard Lee Harvey Oswald was a "lone nut". I also heard that if you go outside while its raining, you'll get wet.

Dunno if you drive for swift, or will drive, or what your story is. But there are a FEW shops who are polite and don't give you an attitude. My home terminal for one....i'm based out of there, and even my happy az has to wait 24 hrs before getting work done on the truck. Then in 24 hrs i get my DM/FM involved, and i go straight to the front of the line.

Now if you are happen to be part of "the chosen", and based in Memphis, heck, you get anything you want. But in reality, whoever told you that may very well be telling you the truth.....to a point. But just because you lease a truck, doesn't automaticly give you a 'free pass to the front of the line', or get perks other company drivers dont get. your happy az still has to wait in line just like everyone else. thats why if i ever leased a truck thru swift, i'd only have my truck worked on at Petro's, Kenworth dealerships or a select few terminals, where i KNOW the mechanics know their stuff. Depending on what terminal you go to, some of those guys arent even ASE certified. So your lease truck is now in the hands of some guy who will be told what a problem is, and try something.....nope....that didn't work, lets try this.....nope....that didnt work.....lets try that, nope...that didnt work.....lets try............
