I've been all over the place since last I visited. Running HARD means you can't always stop where you wish and in some cases it is a byatch to find parking!
Yesterday I ran short of hours to get a load to Houston (and go home) by 1pm today. A team was cut off from a run to Arizona to del my load.
I am in Meridian, MS at a peelot that is designed QUITE a bit like one where I screwed up in my second week! Got here early enough so no way I could repeat!
I'm going to try and t-call my trailer tomorrow in H town but might have to come back into town to drop on Monday. DM says I get an extra day at home if that happens! This DM is a keeper for sure! -
After I dropped my onions off in Glensville Ga last Sat I took a look at the load boards and:
1There wasn't anything on there going anywhere I wanted to go.
2 What was on didn't pay sheet.
They say charity begins at home and I dont haul for free soooo I chose number 3
3 Let the cheap loads stay and pointed it north and went home.
Been home all week. Gonna load Monday morning in Rockport In for Ohio for Monday afternoon del then load Tuesday morning for Laredo for Thursday morning del.

FJ Grand Ledge MI. Dropped some weed killer at a receiver in the middle of a corn field about 1400. Headed out about 0400 for a live load just north of Grand Rapids, then take it pretty much back the same way I just came....just a little farther into MO (Harrisonville). With the deadhead, it's about 850 miles +/-. I plan to beat the hell out of my 11 tomorrow find a spot for a 10 and then get this load dropped plenty early Sunday morning. It's been a good week miles-wise. Don't know zactly how good...just know it's been drive, sleep, drive, sleep, drive, sleep!

I've stayed at that J a few times. It was one of the few I actually enjoyed being at. There is a real sweet lil gal that's there in the early mornings. She always remembered me when I would come in and would tell me to come to her register and my drink would be on her.JustSonny Thanks this.

I'm nosed in by that little pond down in the corner in front of the fuel islands. I like this place too. Matter of fact, I like this whole area between Grand Rapids and Lansing. This is my first trip into Michigan and I've gotta say that these folks have pride and it shows. At least for now, Grand Ledge is on my list of possible places to retire if, when I ever do this side of the grave. Just wish I was headed out of here to the UP instead of back to Missouri. Missouri's beautiful too, but I was just there this morning.

I saw you're gonna be just south of me. How long will you be in the area?
I didn't mind that area of MI. My first trip to MI was to Jenison. They have some weird left hand turn lanes in that town. Next time I spent Easter weekend in the J parking lot at Grand Ledge. I never got out to explore the area, but what I saw was pretty nice.
