While true, a company can terminate you at anytime for any reason, it's called "at will employment". BUT, and there is a "but", you cannot be terminated for anything that violates a public policy. If the company fires someone because they were the wrong color, wrong sex, wrong nationality or wrong religion, they best be ready for the lawsuit, because it will come. And when that employee prevails, the company will have to reinstate them.

Because carriers want new drivers with clean records and you are going to see alot more inexperienced drivers out on the interstates. All because of csa 2010. You can be out here for 20 years and have a good driving history then roll accross the scales with a flat tire (even though you didn't have a flat when you did your pretrip an hour ago) and this will count against you on your csa 2010 score. Next time it could be something else and then your company decides to replace you with a newbe with a clean record. And then when said newbe gets some points on his record, he's replaced with a newer newbe, and the beat goes on.

The sky is falling! The sky is falling! This COULD happen, That could happen. But do you think it will? In 25+ years of doing this I have had an uncountable number of inspections. Results? Two citations.

Today, I Drive OTR in all 48 for a living and paid by the Mile. Prior to Katrina, I worked as a regional manager for several fortune 500 companies.

Truckrswife in Reply to your post. Right to Work (hire) is code for Right to Fire! Yes you are correct EEOC has laws forbiding discrimination but companies can and do fire employees based on other factors. The EEOC and the Employee have the burden of proof. In most cases the EEOC rules with the Employer during the 90 day probation. Usually terminations are well documented before and after termination by staff. Lying on an Application can get you fired in a heartbeat.

Otherhalfw in reply to your post, Swift uses computers and all employees have ID numbers. One is not officially hired until they issue an ID number with your info into the Payroll System and generate a Employee ID.

Right To Work is also code for Right To Work For Less. It's something certain states came up with to bust unions with. California for example is completely surrounded by Right To Work states who are in an all out assault against Davis-Bacon Act (prevailing wage laws). It won't be long now for California as well because they have been trying to convince all the Sheep oops I mean voters to change the districting laws which would favor reeps who in turn favor Right To Work (for less). Arnold has come out with an Op-Ed declaring the reason for California's budget problems are due to unions and their exorbitant pensions. The Sheep will do exactly what is expected of them because they can never think for themselves...
