One of our drivers got into a heated argument with a new inspector at a scales, the inspector was going to charge him with falsifying his logs, as they were off, the driver replied that the logs were on the spot for the time zone of his dispatch, the inspector said his longs had to be on local time! Only the intervention of a supervisor resolved the quarrel.
outerspacehillbilly, Scarecrow03 and rocknroll nik Thank this. -
as one of my brothers used to say..."the people you meet when you don't have a gun"

The DOT cops are human too, heck I have been on the wrong side of stupid more times than I care to admit, but I always try to learn something from my mistakes. Hopefully this new DOT guy went to his superior and asked for help in the areas where he's fallen a little short. Wanna bet me this guy is aint an X trucker that has been off the road for a half dozen years, and he still thinks 10 is all ya get????
Month or so back I got pulled into the barn in Oregon. The guy "doing" me turned out to be a real straight shooter. As he was working we were chewing the fat a little bit, and he confided in me that when he wasnt working in the barn he was doing audits for new trucking companies. But, he hoped to be able to go out in the road, to the enforcement (for lack of better term?) end of it real soon.
An old instructor gave me words of wisdom years and years ago that I carry with me to this day. "If ya cant dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with BS"Scarecrow03 Thanks this. -
This is one of my biggest issues with csa2010. You were completely legal yet this douchebag's knowledge, or should I say lack there of, will now cost you points on your csa2010 scorecard because he doesn't know how to do his job!

I don't know if I could have been so nice in that scenario scarecrow. I have no patience for stupid!Scarecrow03 Thanks this. -
But yet look at who you hang out with and talk on the phone with...
outerspacehillbilly Thanks this. -

Les2 Thanks this. -
Just feel lucky that he didnt notice the center brake light missing!
Scarecrow03 Thanks this. -
Why didn't you? Lord knows I would have, but I have a tendency to run my mouth. That and I'm stubborn as a mule.
Especially with CSA2010, I would NEVER sign an inspection report if I didn't agree with what it says on it. If the occifer doing the inspection is wrong, call 911 and demand a supervisor get out there before the rookie cop looses some teeth. OK, maybe it wouldn't be a good idea to state that on the phone...or to call 911 for a non-emergency, for that matter...probably be better to just have the cop radio for a supervisor.
Once you sign that inspection report, it's pretty much a done deal. That cop ISN'T going to "look into" whether he was right or wrong after the fact....it doesn't affect HIM one way or the other, but HIS error will follow YOU for the next 3 years.
