I drive an 06 Freightliner and it has 590K...heard the other day that they are considering keeping the trucks running until they hit 700k.

Yes I do have some advice, if you are riding with a trainer just suck it up no matter how bad he/she is because they might tell you that you can get out at any time but they won't find you another trainer for weeks and you'll get sent home until they do, hell my trainer went home for a week, had breakdowns, had good 500 mile loads taken away because he was a jerk to the FM and had them replaced by local runs, when it was all said and done I spent 8 weeks with this guy. Also you'll get a student manual with a couple pages of questions in the back, study every question basically word for word because they are all on the test both multiple choice and short answer, I mean I had 8 frickin weeks to study so it was a breeze for me. OTR is not OTR its regional just not you region, they had me running the northeast NY, NJ, CT, PA,MA, MD and I got crap miles one wedk I only had 788 miles, the only time you'll get a load over 300 miles is if you go home and live further then that from the region your in. You can give it a try for the experience I mean a little bit of Jersey City will make or break you so you'll see if your cut out for it. Do what I did, I was fed up with the lack of miles and fighting to get home after being out for a total of 10 1/2 weeks so I called recruiting and got on with a sweet dedicated account that gets me home every two weeks usually a day earlier then I request and there is no sliding scale so I got around the crappy pay for new drivers, I get between 2500-3000 miles a week and I got a truck that had 8 miles on it. They have plenty of dedicated runs other then the different dollar stores where you don't have to touch freight all you have to do is call recruiting & they'll give you the details.

With US Express company drivers, solo drivers exist only to serve teams. They pick up and deliver team freight. Company solo, forget it. Lease, Team, Dedicated or starve.
-
Aww man. U almost made me say forget us xpress and go to tmc. But I do want a dedicated account anyway so..... we will see how it goes.
-
I'm planning on leasing also.
-
Wow yeah you guys may have pursued me into looking else where. I can't live with less then 2k miles a week and also want to be solo but really would prefer a dedicated run
-
company trucks are gov at 65 lease trucks are gov at 70. No truth to phasing out the autos they got a deal on some sticks and they took it if you also notice most of the sticks are not legal to run in Ca. As for the volvo they bought 100 of the in the last few months. If you do lease most likely you will end up in a pete.

well just found out today that there are no dedicated runs in FL area so it looks like im eastern region, I dont mikd it will give me some chances to visit back home in MA I guess.just hope i get resonable miles and a decent truck...
