I've pulled a chemical tanker for years and I have never been refused a rest room at pick ups and deliveries, even if I wasn't supposed to be in the building. Many times on my first visit, without asking I'd be told where the bathroom and breakroom were. On two occasions, I was told I was welcome to use their showers (I hope they weren't implying anything):biggrin_2559:.

Took a t-call load from terminal to receiver just 9 miles away. Checked in okey dokey dock xx. So I took a nap in the sleeper and nothing was happening. Go see what's going on lumper boss says I gotta pay $279. I was like 'no way'. He says ever heard of a comcheck? Yes heard of it, never used one. Go knock on several trucks to ask for a blank check call the number authorize it blah blah blah all kinds of delays etc ran out of hours right there on the dock long story long.

Signs posted all over the place that drivers need to go 1.1 mile down to the J for facilities. Keep in mind I was there for 10 hours. So I did some recon all around their huge warehouse and lol found the women's bathroom, voila! Never did find the men's...

When my mom was driving with dad she had alot of trouble at truckstops. Alot of them didn't have women bathrooms and none of them had womens showers. My wife had to carry our marriage licence so she could use the facilitys in a few truckstops. Or not get kiciked off the truck at a set of scales.

Kinda funny you said that. There is a water pumpjack behind this old farm house in Ohio that would pump out oil.near my brothers house. I'm sure they weren't drilling for oil.:biggrin_2556:

    279 for lumpers? jesus.

I've only dealt with lumpers twice now. All at different Sygma centers for Jenny Craig.
The first one in Harrisburg PA was something like 160 for the full truck load.
Then this last load I had was ltl with a stop in Arlington TX, that was 130 for 1/2 and the last stop was in Charlotte, NC and that was 175 for 1/2. I'm in the wrong line of work... Why drive truck when I can just be a lumper for hire. Hell, I'll make more in a night then I will in a weeks driving.

But I would like to add something to the bathroom conversation.
Are we 15 years old? do we think that swastikas and "KKK" is cool? I've only been driving for a few months, and I'm getting really tired of the stupid racist crap in the bathrooms. Being a cracker from MN it doesn't bother me on a racial level, but it bothers me on a 'professional' level. It's 2010 for pete's sake. Stop being stereotypical hilbillies and get with the times. It's funny that you see these things etched in the privacy of a bathroom stall, but if you had that on the side of your truck you might have some explaining to do to the black mechanic who is there to fix your blowout... And if you're going to be ignorant, dont be stupid too. I've seen "fagits" on several bathroom walls. If you're going to insult someone, the least you can do is spell it right.

And another thing. Why is it so #### hard to throw your #### garbage in a garbage can or a dumpster. This morning in South Carolina I had the joy of seeing my neighbor dumped his garbage right out his door next to my truck. Not appreciated. I'm not a neat freak, but the only people hurting the truckers image is the TRUCKERS. Clean up after yourselves. Take showers, THEY'RE FREE. Dont piss in the parking lot. If you HAVE to piss in a bottle, then throw it away with the other trash. Nothing is more disgusting then seeing a 1 gallon water jug 1/2 filled with urine laying on the side of the road. If you want to get more respect for the profession, then have some respect for the other drivers, have respect for the property owners where you sleep, whether it be a shipper/receiver, truck stop, or even the side of the road. And most importantly, have some #### respect for yourself. In the 5 minutes you spent talking sh** about the swifty trying to park, you could've walked your fat ### to the garbage dumpster and thrown your trash away. Jeez, 3 months and I'm already fed up with the way people conduct themselves.

I email the city managers office and ask them if there are any ordinances and laws that discriminate by denying equal access to drivers. So far I had one positive respionse from the parish leader for lacombe , La. The city manager of Champaigne , Il never responded. I have started a more pro active approach as opposed to a reactive one. If I were a and discriminated against I could go to the NAACP or a similar organization. If I was a jail bord I could contact the ACLU. However , I am a truck driver. Sooo.....who do we go to?

I was just down in Alabama. They location has a no public restroom policy. So I walked up and asked to use the restroom. The gentleman let me in no problem. So I think some places are on a case by case basis. If you look clean and professional, I doubt there would be a problem.
