I applied with both. Never heard back from Gordon, come to find out it's because they don't hire WA drivers. Went with W/S.
W/S was my 1st choice due to the 10 day then solo. I can think of 1 person in this world I could spend 24/7 in a truck with and she's too young to drive!

Yeah Gordon all the way...... well I think the info that you provided cinched it for me... I am going to call Roxy in the morning and see how my application and letter are coming along... I am hoping that I might be able to talk someone into giving me a loan to get me through school then I will just pay it back with the tuition reimbursement.....
Then if all goes well I will try to post all of my experiences through the process... altho I am not sure if I will have access to a laptop for a while... anyways thats a different story.American-Trucker Thanks this. -
Gordon Trucking's terminal is in Modesto I believe about 35 miles from Stockton and I think they have a drop yard in Sacramento about 45 miles north or so.
I don't know anything about Watkins Shepard.
JB Hunt is looking for intermodal drivers with 2 years of experience to run out of Stockton. Great pay great hometime if that's what you're into hehe.
The school I attended (Western Pacific) allowed recruiters from Werner, Covenant, Trans Systems, and Gordon to come talk to us. They offered job placement assistance with all these companies plus CRST and some others I can't recall now. But they were very against Swift and especially CREngland for their students.
If your WIA doesn't work out, try Swift they might be able to train you and get your CDL. CREngland will too but caveat emptor.

as for the tuition reimbursement, i was told it doesnt start until your 90 day probabtion is up, but they already started paying mine after 2 months! they must like me or something haha

I went with Gordon right after school..
Been out with trainer for 22 days (on the truck, not counting his days off)... has been a great experience. Of course, you hear everyone complaining. But the way I look at it, you will always have people complaining. Hell, I was an engineer and making 31 bucks an hour and I still heard people complaining!
I have a couple of weeks to go before my final orientation and getting my own truck. My trainer has been excellent!
Good luck! -
you dont hear us or anyone else complaining about Watkins Shepard...and if you had come here instead you would have had your own truck a LONG time ago lol. I'm not trying to be a dick or anything just trying to show the differances between the 2 companies
