I had a CRST truck pass me on I-10 in TX. Then a fuel hauler. Rainy and very windy. The fuel truck was over taking the CRST truck in high cross winds. IMO the fuel truck broke the cross wind and the CRST driver may have been compensating for the wind. It rammed into the fuel trailer with the CRST steer tire. It tore the storage box open and stuff was falling out all over the road. I thought that she had blown a steer tire.
I stopped and messaged my company that I was a witness and was going to help out. The fuel hauler was grateful that I was a witness and had stopped.
The CRST truck came to rest on the inside of the hammer lane. They didn't put on their 4 ways and jus tsat there, and sat there. Finally the fuel hauler and I went to see if they were OK. They were and the truck was still able to move. I told them, "get this thing off on the other side of the road before you cause another accident!"
Their mirror was smashed into the door. The window was shattered and large chunks were torn out of the fender and the steer tire side wall.
I was not there when the Highway patrol got there. I gave my info to a sheriff deputy who just happened along. The CRST driver said she didn't know what happened. AFAIK they were just 2 rookies in the same truck. Both were at a loss on what to do.
Glad nobody was hurt.

That could have VERY easily turned into a scene of death and/or carnage sitting in the interstate like that. Glad it worked out. You did good.

*whew!*
I was going to ask what the CRuSTy looked like until you said "she." My brother is a CRuSTy.
I'm glad nobody was hurt. -
She was cute. The guy in the jump seat struck me as a Dolt

These two crst drivers need to be off the road if there to panicked to put there 4 ways on. When another truck is passing you back it off a little if its taking awhile to overtake you, so you don't have a situation like that happen to you.

Good job Rugtrucker. I often wonder what to do in certain situations out there and learn gems from posts like this. -
I kind of wonder how fast the fuel hauler was going. The speed limit there was 80.
-
I haven't seen any road in TX where the speed limit was 80 for trucks.

I drive for CRST and Have for awhile. One of the things I hate the worst about this company is that they put two newbies in the same truck and say good luck....but then again I also blame the trainer. If they had showed these newbies the right way then it would not have been an issue to begin with
