    part of the problem is NY's screwy way of posting heights. When I can take a 13'6" trailer under a bridge that is posted at 12', it makes for confusion. If all the bridges were posted as their actual under clearances, like every other state in the country, then only the real idiots would hit the bridges. But that still might not make any difference in this story!

    That would have been a more 'respectable' excuse if the guy had said that instead of 'I don't know how tall my trailer is".

    There is a quote in the article about truck drivers being the 'pros'. That is true and we are supposed to know that there are 6 sides to the tractor/trailer and must know what is there even if we cannot see it.
