Driving with a heavy coat

    I've been driving since 1977 and for the life of me, I cannot figure out how some of these guys n gals can drive or even be comfortable while going down the road in a thick heavy coat or parka! I mean back when, the old cab overs like a GMC wasn't the warmest but didn't require a coat to stay comfortable, maybe a vest or a flannel shirt. Now adays, these guys n gals look like they're on an arctic expedition! Don't they know how to turn up or even turn on the cab heater? Im in my tee shirt while driving and you see some one all bundled up! It just cannot be comfortable and can you really manuver the truck dressed like that? Just saying........

    i gotta agree T-shirt is plenty heaters in these new trucks work great and it makes me laugh when i see some one drivin in a parka or a big carheart drivin by i always wondered what would happen if they went in to a little skid or something would they beable to move enough to keep the rig under control:biggrin_25513:

    Sometimes I might not get the coat off if I am leaving a shipper/receiver quickly. But then I will be taking it off as I am driving down the road.

    The best way to do this is to get on the highway and wait until you are on a straight stretch of road and nobody directly in front of you. Then take off your seatbelt, use your legs to hold the steering wheel in place, and pull the coat quickly over your head like you were taking off a shirt. Even with the zipper not together, it is quicker to pull it over your head like that than trying to take the arms out one at a time. I'm sure others have different methods.

    But I agree, I don't like to drive with a big jacket on, but I do like it kind of cold in the truck. I like to have a sweatshirt or heavy long-sleeve shirt on in the winter in cold weather.
