I'll be pushing 500,000 on my (Swift's) Volvo about the middle of the year. I've heard that's about the # of miles when Swift puts them out to pasture. I'm curious about whether or not I'll have any sayso when it comes time to get another truck...assuming that I stay with Swift. The Volvo I'm driving has been good to me. This is the first time she's been in the shop for more than a few hours.

Jim White is a good guy and he will probably give you a choice of what is available if you ask. You won't get to specify a truck that isn't available and have it brought in but Memphis usually has a decent selection of trucks. When I was there last week I saw 8+ trucks along the fence waiting for drivers and one of them was a Classic XL, which I thought was pretty cool. Of course, there is a new orientation class every week so the choices change by the day.

I made it as far as the Pilot in Nitro, WV today... didn't wanna chance running out of hours on a snow covered Highway. Gonna get an early start tomorrow and bring it on home.

Phoenix at the yard. Got hijacked by the shop for some recalls and they tried to tell me Monday. Wrong answer. I told them the only thing I want done is the inspection and I'm not sitting around til Monday to get two hours worth of work done. They finished me up early this afternoon.

Have a friend who wants to take me to his favorite gay bar this evening, but he's gotta have me back here by 2300.

Yesterday was my daughter's 21st birthday, so tomorrow night, we're starting her down the road to alcoholism. Not really...she's a very responsible kid. It's kind of a rite of passage, though...for the parents to buy the first legal drinks...

Even though we all know they've had a few already and probably even been drunk.
