And there is my absolute favorite DC we deliver out of. That's Big Lots out of Durant, OK. These trailers are always loose box, floor loaded and must be unloaded one box at a time. You can count on a nice 4-5hrs or so to get unloaded. At least we get to sit in the truck as opposed to being the one doing the hand unload.

Well, my good fortune with respect to missing almost every major snow storm for the last two years has come to an end.
I came out of home time in sunny Arizona and its 70 degree temperature only to find myself looking at a wall of snow throughout Kansas yesterday. What a ugly mess.
This was the view as we drove into Pratt KS. The snow had been somewhat heavy for the last few hours and I had the trainee in the drivers seat to get a little bad weather driving experience, but as we hit Pratt it really hit the fan and I jumped in the drivers seat at the first red light.

From that point on it was just not much fun. When I got to the junction of 61/54 I had the choice of two directions. I picked Hwy 61 in the hopes of avoiding what I assumed would be heavy traffic on Hwy 54. Ten miles later I was parked in the middle of the road waiting for 3 semi trucks to be pulled out of the ditch.
Oh cool, the shop just called my truck number. 2hrs for an A service. Not bad. Time to go to Minneapolis.Dryver Thanks this. -
I hope so, I'm getting battle fatigue fighting old man winter...ET has managed to miss most of the storms, I have managed to either get the beginning or the tail end of most...I'm so sick of seeing snow, I could spit any time I hear the word snow...and I'm sitting outside Birmingham waiting to start my 14 for a delivery to Huntsville, AL tonight...and the snow is suppose to start up there, and that area is under a winter storm warning over night....AHHHHHHHHH...I'm thinking about finding a regional company to work for if mother nature doesn't quit 'flaking' on me.
It could be worse, my niece works in a hospital in Tulsa, they were stranded there for 2.5 days with that storm before the Superbowl. They were taking turns sleeping in unoccupied rooms during their off duty time, and I see they got hit again last night with up to a foot of new 'global warming'... -
What's this, I can't believe my eyes
I actually had more miles in January than ET....
...Did Hell freeze over?????????? I know it's been cold in the deep south...but I didn't think it was that 'Deep South' that has been freezing (referring to the movie 'Little Nicky')

"Fr Collins, CO to Arkansas City, MO...........................................699mi"
I'm going with 'wrong state'. I'd bet you meant 'Arkansas City, KS', huh?
Some of us know of that place.
It's pronounced 'R-Kansas City', for the uninitiated, tho they enjoy the laugh they get out of it.
go figure. Of course the locals get even more colloquial and just call it 'Ark City'. Gee whiz that was a big word for me....
Wow Evertruckerr, you have some 'inspirational' miles. I apprec. your posts.
Makes me wanna nap...

Yeah, I bet that gave the trainee an instantaneous anal pucker.

Im sitting outside Tampa right now, 70's and nice. I wasn't too "social" in the "circle" yesterday. I picked up a load that I have "0" leeway time on it, and wouldn't you know they loaded the trailer incorrectly. 3 hrs later I had my load PROPERLY done and scaled and I was rolling. They rescheduled me for tomorrow at 0630.
I almost forgot what it was like to rest for a half day....nice!

They're good at that, I have had several loads that were nose heavy beyond what the tandems can be adjusted to compensate. Crete needs to start charging them like they're an extra stop...maybe they would teach their loaders how to balance a load.
