Mankato, Mini-Sioux-tah at the Kwik-Trip. Got into a nice parking spot, all settled in and this guy pulls in on my right....with an APU that's gasing up my cab!:biggrin_25510:

Told him he's gasing me out. Says he's just here long enough to eat. We'll see how well that CO monitor/alarm works. Because there's something wrong with his APU!:biggrin_25516:

Yeah....he's an independent O/O. With extremely well-maintained equipment. One of those little guys everybody is clamoring to work for.

    NOT!!!

POS truck, POS trailer and POS APU.

    Oh..this ruffled my feathers.
Told dispatch I would be ready to roll at 8am. I get to my truck, put my things away, pre-trip, fire up the truck. Send in the macro at 0752 stating I am ready for dispatch!

..8 o' clock comes and goes..
..9 o' clock comes and goes..
phone call. "yes they know you're ready and waiting. when I find out, you'll find out."
..10 o' clock comes and goes..
..11 o' clock comes and goes..
    "any word yet?" no answer
..12 o' clock comes and goes..
I decided to walk over to Steak n Shake to get something to eat.
    ..fast forward..
at 4:45pm I call them and say "um, is it worth staying in my truck to wait on a load or should I just go back to the house?"
Dispatch tells me to go back to the house and they'll call me if they have a load for me.

So I sat in my truck and waited from 8a-5p waiting for a load.
As I'm sure you figured out..I'm back at home. :(

And I bet he got all his equipment from a lease purchase!

So what is exactly wrong with you moving? There is nothing saying he can't park there & there is nothing saying you can't move!

Ummm....parking lot filled up and only other truck stops in the area are tiny little things.

Nope...guy's been independent long before he got that POS. The APU was one of those used units through that outfit that used to write grants for them. If I ever get another APU, I will have the exhaust plumbed into the back of a stack liner and exhaust it up so's I don't gas other people out.

Does it bug you that there are POS independents out here? I hope not. I know you're not one...and unlike so many people here, I don't judge an entire segment of the industry based on a group who are obvious f-ups. Nor do I judge you on this guy with the crappy equipment. You maintain yours and take care of it...show some pride. This guy does not. You're not him.

Just like I'm not every Swift rookie.

It's all good, though. He's gone now and somebody with a little pride and a nice Western Star took his place.

I am so done playing bedbug hauler. Arrived at my customer at 7:40am for an 8am apt. They didn't show up til 8:05 am. Tell me which door to back up to, 15,000 lbs of HHG. They have 5 guys, I figure 4 will unload me and I'll be gone in 3 hrs. Nope, 3 guys leave, the two old guys start unloading me. After 3 hrs they are 1/2 done, dispatch tells me I'm authorized to fingerprint the load in addition to my detention pay.

Finally leave at 1:15pm, yippeee, woohoo, yeeha, if I never deal with that M&S company again, it will be too soon. My back, my legs, my knees are killing me and the wife said no to a leg or back rub.
