When you are in Laredo get a hand full of glad hand seals. The Mexican drivers steal them from the trailers.

    People drive like idiots there!

I have never stayed in the terminal.

You think it's fun right there by the terminal, wait ti you have to go down to Killam.

You can tell which trailers came across from Mexico and which ones are on their way over by the plastic seals on the corners of the doors. They look like tape and they're on the hinge side. When you're picking up a load from Mexico and the gladhand seals are gone, go take them off a trailer going into Mexico. A sealed trailer with no tapes on the corners of the doors. I have no idea what they do with those gladhand seals, but I get tired of replacing them.

Rug, that Laredo terminal is actually pretty nice. Water pressure is a little...odd, though.

If your DM isn't responding to your qc messages, can you call some one up the chain to find out why?

been a while since i've been down to that terminal, but i agree about the gladhand rubbers. dont have a clue why they always come in missing seals. Whenever i stop at a terminal, i always try to hit the shop up for a handfull anyway.

I'm suprised they dont steal the rubber air lines that run under the framework of the trailer, the trailer lights, license plate AND the landing gear handle.

last time i was there, i just started taking the rubbers out of the trailer next to me. Next time i'm there, i'm going to take the time, and take out one rubber out of every trailer, and put it on a trailer without any. So tha way, every trailer on the yard will have just one rubber. :biggrin_255:

Why not just buy the red and blue rubbers at the truck stop? This way you know which color happy hand to apply.

Just a couple thingsI would like to suggest after reading through your thread.

You mentioned you bought an air card from sprint. Did you notice the EVO or EPIC phone with the wireless hot spot? Great wi-fi when you have signal. It will power up to 8 laptops at a time unlike your air card. Also if you already have a phone the second phone service is free with sprint. All you pay for is the data plan for hot spot. 30 for hotspot plus 10 for data total is 40 a month unlimited access and you will have two phones. If you take the card back within 30 days you can trade it for the phone.

Also if laredo gets you a load for any miles you should grab it because its not the load your looking for its the "trailer" to get your ### out of there. Just for fun ask them for an empty and you will see what I mean. Also turning down a load puts you at the bottom of the list again. Remember they have dedicated fleets that take the good stuff you get whats left over.

Please do not take that other guys advice and start going over anyones head to find out whats up. DM does not even recognize you for months until you have stuck around long enough to be a part of his fleet. Believe me he reads your comments. Alot of times he knows as the day progresses you will figure it out and its not easy to answer everyones message.

Thats my 2 cents Good luck and be safe.

Thanks for the heads up on the internet advice!

Goodbye Laredo I am leaving you today and there nothing left you can say to change my mind. Goodbye!

Delivered the load this morning and was a breeze. came back to the terminal ran into four students that I went to school with all down here at the same time. Had fun just sitting around while we all waited for a load out of here.

I got here Monday afternoon and have been listening to a lot of drivers scream about being here for up to four days. Took this opportunity to just sit around and listen and ask questions. If I get out of here today then I get out of here.

Not gonna sit and stress about it like some here. I told myself when I get out here this time I will not get all stressed out and be frustrated like I was when I drove in the early 90's. Just going to do what I have to do and not worry about it.

cell phone starts beeping because I got a new message. Oh it's a pre-plan going up to the top of Ohio. 1650 miles. Sweet rush on to the truck and accept it. Sit in the truck waiting for the load info to come through and nothing comes.

Hmm sat there for 20 minutes. Now what do I do :biggrin_25524: Got out of the truck and walk up to the smoking area asked the question and was told to go in and see dispatch because they have to get you and empty before they actually dispatch you.

Got up there and was told where the empties are located and strolled on down that way. man now I know where all the empties are!! Lines of them back here. I had my choice of a lot of them.

Found a new trailer that did not have a spec of dirt on it and had brand new tires all the way around it. Found my baby!! Now lets hope I don't hook up to it and they say ya can't have this one.

Well son now you are dispatched!! Sweet now I have a clean truck and a nice shiny new trailer and I will be off to Ohio tomorrow. Going to try and get loaded tomorrow around 9AM and hopefully It just takes a few hours to get loaded. It's a live load.

The only issue with load is it does not deliver until Monday. I figured I would get to Bowling Green and then call and see if they will take it early. If not oh well I guess I can spend some time with a lady friend there or maybe hit a casino along the way just to kill some time.

either way I am happy that I am getting out of Laredo and this is my first long haul. looking forward to it hope the weather up there is not a problem. Gonna check the weather for this weekend up there.

Edit###### OH boy snow going to be happening up there. This should be interesting.

Ask your DM to t-call it in Memphis. That leaves enough miles on it or the next guy and you won't have to sit under a three-day load for six. Is it more important to you to look pretty or make money? If your DM does not return messages, call on the phone. DM's job is to keep you rolling. Give options on how to do that. I'm hearing Central Region has plenty of freight.

Might want to think about that WiFi vs aircard a little before you return the aircard. If you're not sitting in the truckstop or terminal with WiFi service - you're not going to be connected.
