Guess you're going to have to learn not to be drinking things while reading posts around here!
Learn how to drink between opening threads!

True - or at the very least, I'll break out my Red Lobster bib!

When I started driving I used to park my truck at a friends small farm just out of town. His border collie used to bounce around the front of the truck as I crawled in to the parking area. This went on nearly every day for about 3 years as I was mainly out a just couple of nights a week. Then one day I felt bump through the steering and Lassie was no more.He apparently tried to have a bite of the front wheel. Man I still feel terrible , haven't thought about it for years.
Thanks for bringing it up.
In Botswana the last 100 miles before you reach the Kazangula ferry over the Zambezi river to Zambia is a hive of Elephant's. About once a month a truck hits an elephant. Very often with deadly results for the driver. The elephants nearly always perish. What is very moving is that the obviously emotional heard will often hang round the area for days after the accident.Often nudging the offending truck and their fallen comrade with their heads and tusks. The wreckers often have to wait at a distance before they can recover the trucks.Ducks Thanks this. -
I took pride in being this tough woman trucker but tipped many a fuel island attendant to remove some poor bird from the mirror support or windshield because I wasn't really tough afterall. The scariest was a large Bat spread out on the grill that suddenly caught my attention as I was reaching up to pop the hood while fueling.

Well last December I hit my first deer. It was a small doe leaping across a construction zone barrier and went under. No damage but it smacked the axles and made a mess.
Down south somewhere some big raccoon panicked and tried to hide under my drive tires.
Also some time ago I was in Texas around Laredo and there was a massive butterfly migration and I must have hit thousands of them. I kept stopping at trucks stops just to use the squeegee. But when I was parked the birds thought the truck was their buffet.UTurn55 Thanks this. -
1988 west of Lincoln Ne east bound I 80. Just about sunset may be 30 minutes of daylight left. Owl came out of nowhere. Hit the passenger windshield and wound up in the passenger seat. Windshield in the floorboard. Got on the shoulder, put on my gloves, opened the door, grabbed the owl by a wing and drug it out. Sucker was still alive, just dazed. Closed the door, got my used popsickle stick and put the windshield back in. Watched the owl off and on. Thing was sitting up looking around when I left. Talk about excitement. There's just nothing like an owl sittin' in your passenger seat.

Well, my record goes like this: 3 deer ( 1 with the front fender two on the rebound with the trailer), 1 owl, 2 antelope, 3 hawks, 4 pigeons, 300 to 400 starlings, 2 skunks (one of which cleared a rest area when I parked the truck), almost got a bald eagle a few years back. 3 or 4 squirrels, 1 rabbit (that hurt because I really like rabbits), 2 cats, and 4 pheasents.

What I was reporting the Facts as they were. I just did not tell him that it was a flock of Geese up front. You should have seen Barry the owners face when I got back to the yard the next day. I thought he was going fire me then he went Thanks we all needed the laugh Yesterday. When Lyle came to they told him I had hit a flock of Geese Lyle was heard to have said I hope at least one of them Crapped on his Head for me then. Lyle never liked me after that I never did worry about him. Barry cared for me since I bailed the Company out of way to many Jams in the next few months til I left the company on great terms. Called we lost our Largest Customer and Miles dropped by 50% I could not afford to stay there. -
That had to have been just priceless! Too bad you couldn't have had video of his face when you told him!
