I have come to rest for the evening in beautiful picturesque Yuma Arizona.
Where is starting to get dark and still 87 degrees and this truck has opti-idle and I don't like it.

Opti-idle won't stay idling at 87 degrees? That sucks!

It might stay between any degrees that are 4 apart. IE: 70 & 74
But its just as if you shut your car down on a hot day.

How long do you want to stay in when the ac is off?

BTW, this Loves is about the biggest clusterfuge I think I've ever seen at a truck stop! I can't believe there hasn't been a crash or three. And inside makes Walmart at christmas seem empty!

    outerspacehillbilly Thanks this.

I am trying t understand something here--I have never personally dealt with any restrictive idling systems--but I wonder--don't those sytems only come into play with the tractor brakes locked--I would have to assume(bad word)that if the tractor brakes remained released--it would be just like the truck is at a stop light? Therefore couldn't you just lock the trailer down--and leave truck idling--i understand--you could only idle at idle speed--but that should be enough to keep AC up--or just engage engine fan manually to help with temp to keep AC cool? Just wondering?

I can;t tell you either. I have never worked for any Nazi company that had an idle shutdown on the truck. But your thought sounds like it should be right.

I was kinda hoping so--since any decently insulated truck in that hell hole they call Yuma--w/87+outside--even at night can get pretty #### warm--I know I couldn't sleep that way--so I hope it can work for him!

Ol'Hand, that's how it worked on the Columbias I had when I ran Company. But Opti-Idle isn't really bad once you get used to it. Lots of folks have a hard time getting accustomed to the start-shut down cycle, though. Oddly enough, the most common complaint isn't when it auto-starts, but when it shuts down.

Longmont, CO at the Shell. Off to Ogden in the morning.
