No need for apologies. Do what ya wanna. It's all about perspective. Maybe my perspective is the one that is skewed about things. I came into trucking from the high side. I never worked for any of the ####baq carriers like Swift or England or Werner. I always was careful and picky about who I drove for.
Maybe if I went through the garbage first I would have been more appreciative. But until I went to Shaffer, I had never experienced the micromanaging foolishness. I liked driving for the independence. Some weenie telling you what route to take and where to fuel and how fast to drive just seems stupid. -
Thanks so much for this info. My machine has a card and I have to have the card read at either the terminals or TA's/Petros. So hopefully I wont need an extra card. If I have any issues with my mask I'll start looking for alternative masks.
I have to spend another night at the terminal with my machine, then my physical/yr end eval tomorrow...then I should be good for dispatch by 1200/1400 tomorrow.

Good. Glad to hear that they are gettin' you all set.
I figured they would already have a plan for the downloads, especially if the test was setup through your company.
I know some guys think it is all a scam. But it has been beneficial for me. Hopefully, it will help you too. It takes a little getting used to. Hang in, after a little bit it will just be second nature. -
Since when do they do sleep studies at NK? I thought they only did those in Wilmer. Did your doctor recommend, or did they just randomly shanghai you? I hope to God that they don't start that random shanghai-ing type thing...I may have to employ a new strategy if they do.

Good thing they don't try an attitude like that w/me... The Snackbar-101 approach to such a thing would go like this...."After being informed that 'since I was in the general area' and the fact that 2 of us were in the truck, and were going the opposite direction as the accused instigator, then still being told to report to the shop" the following would have been the proper 'snackbar style' reply....remember this should be done w/an increased aggressive and aggravated attitude spoken without any gaps or unnecessary pauses...(and if they try to interrupt or speak, increase the volume and attitude)
"Oh, so now I am now not only am being accused of leaving the scene of an accident, but I am now a liar...But that's right, we are all just steering wheel holding moron's here at Crete, and of course always to blame no matter the circumstances...and are willing to lie about it". "I guess we're not the 'premier' trucking company that we advertise...at least that's the way we are treated around here, action speak louder volumes than words....you want it inspected...fine, or should I bring it up there so you can see it with your own eyes, who knows, maybe I'm bribing the mechanic to hide the damage that I'm lying about...I guess this kind of experience will help me win recruiter of the year when I tell all the perspective drivers about this, and how well times like this proves how well we are trusted and treated...Have a nice F'g day......"-Click-
Now this may not change the mind of the person at the other end of the phone, but it will give them a moment of pause the next time they decide to accuse an innocent driver...maybe just 1 moment, but at least it's one small step in the right direction. -
.30 a mile....Holy Crap, in my 17+ years, I don't know that I've ever worked for that little...man o man..well, maybe when I was being Fleased by Prime, but not as a company driver.

John, I'd guess you will come in at .39cpm, per their website. I know for a fact it is 'number of jobs' in 5 years w/how many yrs. exp' IN THAT 5 years, is the way they do it.
That is, that's the way I understand it. I've got around 6 1/2 yrs tho haven't driven in almost 2 1/2. I come back at .39,,yikes. They won't budge. They will boost me to 3 yrs. status tho, after 6 months. I'm looking forward to it.
Be accurate with your dates; they are gonna KNOW your driving record. Just write on the app. 'unsure of dates', anytime you are unsure. Then they will let you correct them with the accurate dates when you get to the terminal.
If you can pass the driving test and everything else checks out, you will get hired, trust it.
Call 'em up. They will tell you. The website is here:

Oh, and you're asking about that fellow,,or fellows that get over the 3,000 a week. If you have read enough of this Thread, you will see that evertruckerr is both a trainer sometimes and sometimes he is solo.
P.S. I bought the truckstopsplus software yesterday. Cool, cool, and way cool addition to my Streets and Trips. W/google 'Street View' now, and VErizon 4g card, I should be able to keep outta the neighborhoods.
I forgot to answer your first question: "will you go w/trainer". I'll say 'NO'. Do you NEED to go w/Trainer, yes or no? They didn't ask me, tho I don't need a Trainer. There was no mention of it, to me. I go next week. Then again, we can only give an opinion if you 'go w/trainer', right? Hell, ask us about anything else. BrAnE surgery, matters of national importance, questions about the LAW,,,you know, 'informed truckers knowledge'.
'I've forgotten more than most Rookies know". (calm down,,,,calm down. I was a Rookie ONCE, too)Last edited: Mar 18, 2011

well guys seems my perserverance may be paying off, got a call back from a crete recruiter and he cut my wait time in half. thats the good news, the rest of the news is i ran the roads checking out trucks on the roads and only saw three company's with more than a couple trucks with the same name, one of the company's i dont think i would work for, a scrap iron place with trucks in such bad shape made me nervous to even drive by them for fear a tire, axle, or even the whole truck may fall apart and kill everyone around.Amazing because the man who owns this company has more money than several company's put together, must have DOT payed off.The other company said two years no exception but the third company, that happens to be only five miles from house,i went there with the im not taking no for a anwser attitude, walked in the door and the first thing they said was two years experiance due to insurance and they dont train,i was not taking no for a anwser and kept talking,(or begging some may interperet it differently) and some puppy dog eyes since she was a female, she says let me take a copy of your temporary licence and fill out this application i will give it to my brother ( the owner) and we may be able to send you out with one of our experianced drivers. Thats what i wanted to hear so a little paperwork,a couple more eye bats and several more thank you's and i was out the door with a pretty good feeling. So the start of the week will bring me back to there bussines groveling for a job, if they say no i will offer to work for lunch money,if they say no to that i will offer to work for free. I hate to do it and not sure if my pocketbook can afford it but i am going to do whatever is necesary to get my six months on the books, just have to have my old lady pick up the slack. LOL I got my toe in the door working on my foot. safe journey's and many miles.
