Is it worth it to go that fast though? Is there not a point of no return with x amount of speed? In my truck I estimate about $0.88 goes out the window every hour I drive 68 compared to 58 miles per hour from fuel economy standpoint. Sometimes it can be worth it to get me unloaded sooner to get that big load on the other end so I can finish it with the week's cutoff time.

Ottawa Kansas, Walmart. Sitting on about 68 hours and change, waiting to be unloaded and go to TA down the road for a 24 hour break or so to pick up some hours, hopefully will get planned before the weekend though... Just turned down 2 sweet preplans about 1000 miles each.

Yea but you spend more on fuel. I can imagine how much extra that will cost ya in a years time.:biggrin_2551: Sitting in Sunnyside WA waiting for my next load. First time in awhile I have actually had to wait. Not ready to park it just yet!

Scottie, you have to remember, every truck is different. It depends on where that "sweet spot" is. Was with a L/P last night, 2010 Volvo 780, and he is avging 7.7, and that is doing 68. The one thing that he did when he got the truck, took it to Volvo, paid the $600, and they put it on the Dyno, and took all of the restrictions that Swift loaded on the truck off the engine, and also ran into another one last night with the new T700, took it to Kenworth, and paid $295 and had it put back to the 13 speed that it came with. Hence, his fuel is also up.

FYI don't try stopping here after 8pm and expect to find a place to park. I got here WAY early tonight, and there were only a few spots left! A fellow Swifty spotted for me on my blindside back - always makes life less stressful.

This discussion has been brought up many of many of many times here on the forums. First of all, I don't get paid penny on the dollar. I get percentage of the load. This load I'm on right now will pay $2.35 a mile to me after it is delivered. The load I brought out here from Mass paid $1.73 a mile to the truck.

Yes, I'm burning more fuel then you. But who cares? I'm making enough money to cover it. Besides, after a years time I'll be able to create an extra 25 grand in revenue. Sure, I spend 20 grand more of fuel with driving faster.... Do the math. 25 minus 20 equals 5 grand more revenue driving the speed limit & I am not being put to sleep with that governed nonsence.

I'll gaurentee you that I will only drive 130,000 miles this year. & you'll all run 180 thousand to 200 thousand miles to make what I made in 130,000 miles.
