More than likely it was an owner-operator who picked up an extra load outside of USA's dispatch. -
Things like that don't happen anymore. To much liability involved.
I really hope you're just mistaken or it was some fluke! Thats all we need is another doors winging company coming into the flatbed world driving the rates down.
I've seen UPS and Averett(sp) pulling flats now. -
Yeah, I seen those UPS flats. Had to take a double look because I didn't trust my eyes.
-
It took seeing one 2 days in a row for it to sink in.....

It has something to do with USA TRUCK and their Load Brokerage Division. You will be seeing them pulling reefers and container chassis along with flatbeds .

I was talking with a company driver last month or month before and he said he was going to be doing dedicated flatbed in the Ohio region. He had to be in Cleveland for his Flatbed training, said something about USA was trying it out I guess? I can't remember.
The containers (intermodels) is because USA just bought a few late last year, I have only seen them sit at terminals or drop yards (tons were in the Fontana, CA yard last week). -
Before I left USA truck in may of last year they had me pulling flatbeds for 4 weeks for menards lumber in eau claire wi due to they needed help getting lumber to their differant stores for the early spring season, it was just a temporary thing but i do know they signed up for a permanent thing in 2010 pulling flatbed in ohio dedicated account pulling fertilizer

I'm guessing that is what the driver I was talking about is doing.
