I have finally had it. All the anti-idleing laws really irk me. These dumass companies that would rather have drivers die of heat stroke than pollute their precious air. Then the f'n laws that say that if you have an animal in the truck...well it's OK...animals are important. ?Truck drivers are not, as long as the freakin' cat comes out ok....:biggrin_25513:
Now, the little company that me n hubby work for...me local, him OTR gives us a memo saying no more idle...unless it's over 110 degrees where u are. We see the owners livin' large, racecars, high on the hog, owning other businesses...gitin' them fully remodled...new vehichles left and right...
but we are supposed to suffer the heat to give them a couple more bucks in thier pockets while we are just doing the best job we can for them, busting our butts out there on the road?
I'm really sick of this BS. Come on OOIDA...someone needs to rein these big headed a-holes in. HELP!:biggrin_25510::biggrin_25510::biggrin_25510:

Yes, but it's still wrong. A sleeper truck is a drivers home while on the road. They should be afforded the opportunity to be comfortable and well rested when they are on their breaks. I can see them clamping down on on the idling at shippers/receivers/fueling, etc, but when the logbook shows sleeper berth, those restrictions should be waived.

You don't have to work there, if the policies are treating you unfairly you can search for other employment. I'm sure there are some benefits of working for whatever outfit you are with. Idle policies always suck, but on the other hand they do save a lot of wasted fuel. To each their own, best of luck to ya.

so many companies have their anti idling laws---but take a quick walk around the t/s some night--it could be --say 67 out--and yet you see truck after truck idling--why?
its cause believe it or not--drivers out there who dont give a rats ### about maybe saving fuel--saving wear on the engine--and some are just to stupid to know better
that is why companies have idling laws--if trucks were run responsabley--then there would nt be any company idle restrictions

Lonesome, Lil'Devil, Wargames and 5 others Thank this.

Well, I would tell them to buy APU's if they want no idling. Other than that, I'm idling if the weather warrants it. You don't like it? Adios! There are plenty of companies that have APU"s that you don't have to put up with these tight wads.

The Founding Fathers in Independence Hall during the summer of 1776 never complained about lack of air conditioning in the building-- and that was before the invention of hot and cold running water and underarm deodorant. By all accounts, there were some record temperatures and humidity that summer in Philadelphia.

Cowboys in the old west never complained about lack of air conditioning in 110 degree heat. The animals suffered right along with the cattle drivers.

You modern new breed drivers are a bunch of namby pambies. If it gets too hot in the sleeper, perhaps you could sling a hammock up under the shade of your trailer hmmm?

    Yup Thanks this.

i really understand having to idle when it gets hot--it doesnt help anybody when you are trying to sleep and its over 100 in the truck---but some people just have to idle all the time wether its hot cold or nice out--its really senseless
