IP, not sure whether you've been to this Walmart. There are signs up all over the terminal requesting trucks not park over there. If they park behind, there will be too many and they will hinder deliveries. Park in front and it tears up the parking lot. Park on the dirt across the street by the railroad tracks and you will get a huge ticket.
The terminal is only 3 or 4 blocks from Walmart. Not that long of a walk. I do it all the time while I'm there. Even walk another couple of blocks to that Country Buffet across the parking lot from WM. They have an awesome salad bar. One of the best things to do when dealing with mild altitude disorder is move the blood around your body. Sitting around feeling sorry for yourself won't help a bit.
And don't you guys scare those prairie dogs and rabbits away. I need one for my crockpot next time I'm in town. Save my dog for one more day. *looks hungrily at AJ while licking chops*
No food! No water or bathroom and expected to stay in truck

I never have a problem parking out of the way for 30 minutes on a grub run! That's NOT 8 or 10 hours worth. I always figure that the best thing to do is to go in spend some money, and move on. Personally, unless its one of the WallyWorlds I visit frequently, the best plan is to pull in around 3 or 4 AM... lots of manuevering room without the 4-wheelers.

Not arguing with ya, here, IP. But. This particular Walmart has asked Swift to avoid parking over there. Apparently, there are some Swifties who would rather park at the Walmart than the terminal. Not that I blame them, really, because the terminal can be a train wreck at times. But our trucks would homestead over there. That's why the signs are up all over the terminal.
The railroad people got tired of picking up trash, trucks digging holes in the ground and then getting stuck in the mess the trucks themselves made. Now, it's a big ol ticket for parking there.
I don't think this applies to other companies so much as Swift. Mainly because our terminal is so close. Looking at some of our drivers, they could use the exercise anyway. Perhaps asking at the window to find out whether there is a shuttle that does Walmart runs might help. I don't know if they do or not. You never know. -
I'm wondering if one of those cans of oxygen I've seen in the truckstops would be good for you in that case? -
Well. I came up over US395 today. Crested the hill at 8138 feet. I'm feelin a little dizzy.
Wait. My brother tells me I'm always a little dizzy.

I wouldn't let someone treat me like that. -
The training is over and Blue has been solo for almost 90 days I guess. He continues to use this thread to document his daily experiences as a solo driver in order to keep the thread up so that folks like you will read it and see what some of the mentors are like.
