Yea you could probably throw a rock at any truck stop and probably hit someone that has been cheated out of a few bucks by Knight.

Whenever I pull into a truck stop and see about 5 Knight bobtails, each parked in their own parking spot, I can't help but just shake my head and hope they have other options lined up.

I just started with night this past Monday. And from what everyone is saying, it really does seem to be a terminal/DM issue.. my first week i got 2500+ mi (took all seven days). I only live loaded once, and live unloaded three times.. i've had to call maintaince twice, once for a blown trailer tire, and once for a mud flap for a trailer.. and it all went smoothly.

People complain about empties, but my DM managed to get me to one every time. The only trouble i had was when he sent me to a Dollar Gen DC and the guard said Knight didn't have trailers there and sent me away, i ended up going to WalMart DC to look and another DC i dont even think we use (there were all within a mile of each other). I ended up back at Dollar Gen and they looked in the computer and saw that they did have one, it was the same one my DM said should be there.

I'm not happy about the idle thing, (think it's cool how they have it set up, jus need to lower it to 78deg), and i'm really not happy about a 62mph truck either.. another driver said you get rewarded with a speed increase after a while.. i'm still tryin gto figure out what's "a while" exactly.

Terminals? don't really have any issues with them other then nasty drivers taking big green ##### and not flushing the toilet.. the hell is wrong with people. I've only been to three, mine which is more of a drop yard then a terminal, but they're supposed to be adding to it. Charlotte, which was ok, they need to fix that satellite pump for pump number one. It's a shame a driver has to use a squeegy to prop the switch close. Atlanta, talk about wow!!! The only thing it's missing is a bunk room that drivers can take a sleeping back into and go to sleep instead of trying to sleep in a hot truck. And they need to have the wash rack open ALL the time, and have a way for drivers to trade in spares, and get oil and such. Maybe a cage with a card swipe that will only respond to your badge. You call in during the week to let them know you'll be coming through during the weekend and give them your info and they'll put it all in a cage for ya. But nope, instead i'm riding with a blow spare tire and no oil, and i need to get a hub fill plug cause my driver side one is letting oil leak by.

That's all i can really say about the company. I'll report back again once i get my first pay check this week.

OK, I don't want to burst your bubble here, but give them some time. You will find that the longer you are there, the more screwed up they are. At this point, you are still new enough with the company, (regardless of whatever previous experience you may or may not have,) to not have run into all of the uh "stuff" yet.

Oh yeah, you might want to learn how to spell your company's name. It is KNIGHT, not Night. (I know that may have just been a typo, but still. . .)

I will be interested to see where you are and how you are doing in six months! And I wish you the best of luck.

I do too wish you luck Mitch. It doesn't matter how good your DM is, the company is horrible HORRIBLE in it's pure disregard for YOUR income regardless of how hard you work. Eventually you will end up with a good run emptying near a terminal that has some stupid beef with your terminal and your going to pay for it. Seems last week one of their drivers was stuck at a known idiot customer for 12 hours near your terminal and therefore you will be stuck at a known idiot customer for 12 hours in their neck of the woods. I don't know about you but I am not into getting caught up with stupid political games especially when we are talking about my earnings.

Theres just too much pure un-adulterated BS at that place. Good luck to you.

Please don't be shy. We won't say "told you so" just come back in a few months and tell us how it's going for you. People need to know this information.

HA HA HA F'n Knight....shouda killed me when you had the chance MF'ers!

One more thought here Mitch. I was sort of in the same situation as you are when I first went with Knight. Had a GREAT DM. (Of course he is no longer with Knight.) He was a young guy, not too long out of college. He really seemed to be an upstanding fella.

As long as he and I could work together, things were pretty good. But of course you can't always work with YOUR DM. And getting thrown around into other zones it goes just like Dna said in his above post.

so it's true that each terminal has it's own area of responsibility? i left Florida headed to NJ with sugar on Monday, got unloaded on Wednesday. Did a relay from the yard in Cherry Hill, New Jersey to South Jersey (right where the turnpike and I295 all meet along with US140 and US40. After that my DM said he needed his drivers back and sent me to N. Jersey to get a load headed to NC. I loaded at Austin in Cary, NC after my drop and bounced to Atlanta where i swapped loads with another driver headed to N. Fl to the WalMart DC. I mean he really did get me back pretty quick and little dead head..

I know there's going to be some B.S somewhere, i'm not going to go look for it (bad way to live ya life) but i'm not gonna be all shocked and blown away when it catches up to me.. i'm really just trying to get my two years in so i can get insurance again and get back into my own truck and back at it hauling pipe in Tx. Being company is nice, and a lot less of a head ach and worry but i like my freedom.

I didn't really put my escapades of me being an owner operator with my authority on here, mostly because there were too many lease owners who didn't have to deal with half of what i had to deal with that always had something to say, but i'll keep this thread updated as much as possible.

maybe there should be a jar of Vaseline with every orientation kit. Let them know up front what's coming and maybe make it a lil easier on them taking it.

I'm curious about what to do if your pay is way behind from week to week? Several scale tickets haven't been paid and several loads haven't been paid either over the course of the last 3 months.
I'm not a driver but have a friend who has only been working for Knight 4 months. His pay has virtually been a nightmare from the start. Is there not one payroll office for Knight? Shouldn't you be able to contact someone there directly to striaghten out these kind of issues? He's getting no help from his mgr. Thanks for a reply....

Tell him he must scrutinize his pay EVERY week. This means keeping records and getting online and reconciling against his records. That's just business as usual at Knight. If your not checking your pay then your actually paying Knight too work for them.

Here's another one to tell him to watch out for. They deadhead him 250 miles to pick up the load but he arrives and learns the customer called Knight yesterday and cancelled. No matter what his DM says he will not be paid for those miles.

Also if it hasn't happened already he will be dispatched on loads that have already been picked up already. No pay for the miles driven there.

Oh yea and the empty searches...no pay.

and on top of all of that they are not reimbursing him for expenses he paid out of his pocket. He'll have to call payroll and yes they get snippy but he's gotta get paid. They will tell him "Oh yea I see that right here....it hasn't gone through yet but we'll get it to you"

BOL to him. Knights run by a bunch of stupid idiots who couldn't give two flips about much of anything.
