Currently sitting in Texas, north of Ft Worth waiting to get hours back. I hate running out of hours, especially when it happens in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do.
So I'll amuse myself here for awhile.
How about some pics from the recent past.
Here's a little friend I stumbled across outside of Memphis last week while out for a walk.
I'm still doing a good job of missing tornado's, but it's not all that easy to do these days. I was running through IL/IN last week on a trip from Chicago to Indy. I hadn't heard of any tornado's in that area during the previous night, but something must have been going on. I saw 6 trucks in the ditch along the way.
;;The Stump Guy Thanks this. -
I also got a trip this week going through Joplin and stopped off at the Flying J. It took a direct hit from the tornado, but it appears that it had lost most of its destructive strength by the time it made it to the Northeast part of town. Many structures had received major damage, but for the most part, everything was still standing.
I took a few shots while there.
The Kenworth dealership across the street. Major damage and a number of the trucks in the lot are going to need some body work.
The Speedco (I think that's what it used to be) behind the Flying J:
And the heavily damaged Flying J. They were selling fuel if you had a fuel card, but the doors were locked and the inside of the place was destroyed.
;
Here's a picture I found online that was taken immediately after the tornado hit.
Here's a short video that I found on youtube from someone that was in the flying J at the time. Not a very good video, but gives you an idea of what the place looked like immediately after.

And here is a terrifying shot of a tractor trailer being ripped apart by a whip tornado on I40 near Shawnee in Oklahoma. From what I've read the driver survived with cuts and broken bones.
MUST SEE

This was a rather uneventful week, punctuated by a number of early morning deliveries followed by mid-day pickups, resulting in a lot of less than productive days. In a number of situations I was able to either pickup early or deliver early, but the end result is that it took me 7 days to use up my 70 hrs. I was able to get in a reset, but it was on the 8th day in the middle of a work week as opposed to a Sunday, so the end result is that I can't really get the mileage totals up to where I would like to see them. So it goes sometimes, not really anything to complain about compared to what places like Joplin are going through at the moment.

Saw a Crete driver park alongside the scale for the night when there were spots available. He was just a lazy non-professional IMHO. See a lot of drivers do it, but this was the first Crete. I found that embarrassing. I want to be part of a totally professional outfit. Perhaps, that is an unreasonable expectation.

Get his truck number and call him out

Every day I endeavor to do just that

I managed a whopping 2539 miles in 8 days since I left the house...and now this pos truck has to go into the shop again. Heater core leak, apu still acting up, check engine light, still leaks when raining, air leak. On top of all this, I had 2 loads back to back with wrong info...Sent into Green Bay to pick up a load at a company called Fox River, ended up picking up at Proctor and Gamble...I can see how they mixed up those names, they are so similar....for the average Cornhusker grad that is...
