Back in the mid eightys, I was moveing from VA back to VT broke down in Pa.
Tow truck stoped and saide " we are on the way to pick up a car need a lift" no charge for the tow.

at the garage I asked where the buss terminal was incase i needed to ship my stuff. I had about $50 to my name. they traced my wires and an replaced a worn batterie cable 2hrs time $10 Saide have a good trip.
an hour latter I saw a biker broke down instant karma. Gave him a ride to NY state a bit off the path i was planning but not that much out of the way.
    Keep paying forward.:biggrin_25520:

Traveling on vacation from south dakota back to arizona when i lived there, i blew out my transfer case and losing oil bad. we stopped in nebraska as well, of course only shop in town was closing NOW, but owners gave my family and i their car to take to the local hotel and pointed out restaurants on main street. They said take our car and be back in the morning we'll see what we can get done. So at 8 in the am i headed down to see what they had found, and they had "temporary fix" for me to get me back home. They stayed late to fix it, charged me next to nothing, and were just happy to be able to help me out! Great people up here in the heartland!

I agree with 'OLHAND, there are country people all over with morals and ethics. I froze a front wheel bearing on my 4 wheeler one freezing cold winters evening outside Utica NY. Utica is a fair sized city in upstate central NY, far from big city people. I had no notice until I heard screeching. I had to ride a while until I got an exit from the state highway which looked like it had services. I pulled into a gas station with no pump lights lit, a teenager came out to assist me, he thought it was a lug nut rattling around inside the hub cap. It turned out to be bearings. His dad had him call the auto parts store immediately before it closed to get the new bearing. The father took his torch and heated the old bearing in hopes it would be freed from the spindle. Perfect job, freed the damaged bearing, installed new bearing, hoped it would last to get to Syracuse for my meeting next morning. Cost $25.00 for part and 1hrs work. I gave him $100.00 and had to argue with him to take it. It was much cheaper than Motel and dealer next morning.

Thank God for Gus the Mechanic in Country side America.

One time a dude with NJ plates looked at me like I was crazy when I pulled him out of the ditch with my 1946 Ford 2N tractor and didn't ask for money.

I wish more people were like this. I work in retail and I see the worst of the worst. This is the way America should be. Parents need to step up to the plate and raise their kids to be respectful, hard working and have some morality..
