Month is good enough for me anyway. After that it's getting time to do laundry again and restock stuff.

I'm not even sure the terminal one is based out of has anything to do with anything. DM's either for that matter, because it seems to me as the driver gets out of the zone of their terminal and into another terminal's jurisdiction that other terminal takes over that driver's availability and uses him. If I ever call my DM to resolve a problem or ask a question, she'll say, 'oh I see you're in Mt Pocono PA' as if she's finding that out for the first time.

5 days is the minimum lead time for your hometime request. You can verify that by sending a macro 8 with just 2 or 3 days lead time and it will kick back to you. Of course the more lead time you give them to get you back home the better the chance for arriving on time.

Scottie, I agree, but it seems like those that are based out the Eastern Terminals, seems like they will get alot of loads that are pretty much East, SE, MW and little SW, where those that are based out of the Western Terminals, well they seem to run more of the 48. The majority of what I see, I-64 and I-70 unless I get stuck like this week, out of Denver. It is kinda like that one zone, no west of Denver. From what I understand, the DM is supposed to take care of the driver, and communicate with the planner for the area that you are getting mt out of.

I want to thank all that helped. Well I guess my plan of attack, get home next Sunday, then on Monday call Rapid Response. This is one of the reasons that they are around, to help out so that a L/O can make it out here. Then see what they have to say. When they see an avg of 2200 miles per week for 4 weeks, well. Since I have home time comming up, and I will be in Northern MN Monday, I am going to be pessimistic and say that this will be pretty much a shot week. Lots of short runs to stay close to home.

I don't know, blsqueak? I always want to go to those areas your talking about,mw,se so atlantic region and texas.I pu alot of work there, and seem to sit more out west(although not lately) it sounds like exactly the program that i did when i started as a company driver, and as a l/o.Maybe because your new(relatively speaking to swift) also think because your new your an unknown quantity, because so many start and quit.I don't think they (dms and planners) really start paying attention to you until at least a good year?(maybe, its a theory) but I have noticed the same basic pattern with others,so maybe thats it.Now it seems they are totally hands off and really just let me run my own deal, how when and where I want.It sounds very familiar, and swift is ummm, shall we say Paternalistic? just a thought..................

fr8monkey, remember before you can even get into the lease program, you have to prove that you can run the miles, and do the job. Maybe the reason that many quit is when they prove that they can run, and then get into the program, then they start to sit, and start to worry about the payments, and what not. Kinda like they show you that they have the miles, get you into the program, and then, well, do not know. I did not get into this program to sit and pretty much do nothing all week. Like others, I also have goals, and to reach them, I need tp produce so much. I also signed up for 48, not mostly just one region. When you are running nothing but hills and mtns, that really starts to eat into your profit. I think I remember that there are some interstates down South. Not real sure. Been about 3 years since I have been down there. Oops, forgot, I-10 once as far as some state before shot up north,

Well then maybe changing dms and terminals is in order? my pod was company and l/p but they just split it up with my old dm as head of an owner op only pod,and she is a former l/p driver, maybe she does more for me than i know?Whats the hold up with you doing a mac 30? cause if you have some choices you won't have to run all those heavy loads up and down the mts.come to think about it most of the l/p people on here ARE out of western terminals.I still think that the company is so big and so many come and go,that if you new it is a raw deal, but that could be or not.See what rapid response can tell you(i have never talked to them)but somethings got to change,i know the miles are there usually.cause 6.2 and 2200 miles won't cut it!:biggrin_25513:
