I just found out I was approved for Financial Aid through the HOPE grant at my local community college. Needless to say, I was grining ear to ear! After hearing about company schools with contracts, and nightmarish CDL mills, Im glad to have a CC nearby. Ive got to take a placement test, then I can enroll in the soonest class which is in August. I will get $65 for books and anything over that, I will have to pay. Im going for the day class which is Mon-Thurs. It works out great since I work Fri-Sun but these next few months will be non-stop. Im sure it will all be worth it in the end. I will update when 'updates' are available! (hopefully often)

I took and passed the placement test back on the 13th. I just got a conformation letter for my place in class. I start class August 13th! :yes2557:
The class is 9 weeks(I opted for full time as opposed to part time) and I will have to have 750 OTR miles pulling around an empty, before I get my CDL.
August wont get here soon enough!

I had to get a 7 year MVR, DOT physical, and drug screen. There were no problems(didnt expect any) and all is well. These were paid out of pocket($70 for the drug screen and DOT physical and $7 for the MVR) but is a small price to pay since Im going to school on a grant. I go to pre-orentiation in a couple hours to (Id imagine) get my books and guarantee my place in class. Out of all the people that inquired about taking the class, I wonder how many will make it and graduate. Ill be updating more often as I go through class which starts Aug 13th.
I heard that Swift and Covenant are two of the companies that come to steal new souls...I mean recruit. Swift is a no-no and after some reding, Covenant is as well.
