Wasn't an issue on my spread reefer.....

If used very sparingly it not much of a problem but constant repeated loading and unloading of the rails at that point will take its toll and they have been know to start cracking at that point with fairly high frequency...I would never buy an aluminum trailer with a dump valve but I am also very careful about getting into any high stress turning situations with a heavily loaded trailer.

Reefers are generally loaded more evenly than skateboards. We may have 26 pallets to equal 44K, and they might have one coil for the same weight.

The short explanation is the difference in the undercarriage of a van/reefer as compared to an aluminum flatbed.
Look under a spread axle reefer and then at the rails on an aluminum flat and the differences will be readily apparent and the reason that a flat will flex at the rails at that point more than a reefer will be obvious as well I believe.

Directly contrary to what Injun said, A belly (such as a coil) loaded flat will not display this problem but a flat loaded heavily to the tail will because of the additional stress of the rearward portion of the load behind the stress point created at the front suspension mounts by dumping the rear bags.
Watch a fully loaded flatbed flex at that point when a driver dumps those bags and you'll see the amount of stress that's created by doing so...Multiply that by many many times and you'll see the problem because we all know what happpens when you repeatedly flex a piece of metal at a certain point.
