I remember a few years back, I was at a clients house for a no sound issue on her PC. I'm checking everything, drivers, volume, this and that, nothing.
Finally I get down to see if the speakers input was running from the sound card and then I noticed, she didn't even plug them into the wall. DOH!
Still charged her the $75/h on-site charge.
This is about when I came up with; whenever someone asked me about something related computer issue that was similar in nature that I didn't feel compelled to answer, I would always chalk it up an I/O error. For me, and apparently allot of techs, that means "Idiot/Operator". Works like a charm every time.
I never laughed so hard!
