Does any one know of a IPhone app that has a computer based or Elog type of device that is FMCSA legal to run ? I saw the U-Drove app but was not sure if it's legal to run as a stand alone log
I am only interested in iPhone or possibly Andoid type applications , not interested in laptop versions
Thanks in advance

Only problem I see with the phone apps is that you cannot print and sign the form.
-
Yeah that was what I was thinking too
But wasn't sure if they had a FAX feature like the QC systems do -
I would hope not because to many drivers would be useing it while driving not good
-
as far as I know there are no portable devices approved by fmcsa
to be used as on board e-log or recording devices -
Black berry has a device that's approved ... Quality Carriers uses it
I was just wondering about iPhone , cause that's the phone I use Or maybe android cause I hate blackberry phones ... Lol -

And I'll add another link later. -
Here you go. Works in Canada and the USA. I knows when it's at a border and what the different rules are.

There was one app for the iPhone that I saw where you used your finger or a stylus on the screen to "sign" your log each day. Then it would e-mail a copy to wherever it needed to be sent to for your company. Not sure if it would be legal per DOT though.

The Qualcom logs have a button where you "approve" your logs periodically. After you approve them they are no longer editable. The approval process is the accepted electronic method of signing the log. We no longer have to keep a printed signed copy in the truck. This is what the industry will move towards.
