Your forgot the Stevens trucks running 59 MPH in a 30 MPH wind trying in vain to achieve a fuel bonus...

Yea but you know the trucks always get the blame. We are a rather large target after all. I think a big (if not the only) part of this is the Rail lobby. They have lost so much to trucks, they will do anything to get parity with us. It take on the average 6 1/2 days for a load to go coast to coast by rail, and 4 by truck.

Yea, it's our fault the railroad is so inefficient.

Just once I would like to see some leadership, by example. Let all the ATA executives and sales and office staff have all of their vehicles set at 65 mph for a year or two. Then once they finish that experiment, I'll be happy to think about it for big trucks.

    BJnobear Thanks this.

I think that comparing rail with truck would be like comparing apples to oranges. What trucks are good at, rail cannot compete and what rail is good at, trucks cannot compete. Rail is great for bulk commodities, and large shipments going to the same general area that are not time sensitive. That's the proverbial end of the line for rail. It still must be moved from a rail or ship yard to next point in the chain by truck. And final leg to consumer is by truck as well. Rail is just a link in the chain as is ship and truck. One cannot exist without the other.

So it's set at 65 at the factory. I don't see anything that says nobody can change it after they buy it.

I would assume it would be like I have heard it is in Canada since they already have this. They will hook up to the ECM to verify this setting.

There are ways around it with fuel mileage bonus but it just a matter of time before that too is covered.

Eventually our government will control the squares of toilet paper to be used with each bathroom visit. Too many of us support their regulation if it fits our cause. We fail to realize we should fight this on principle whether we like the flavor of the month or not. We are quickly sliding down the slippery slope but most fail to take note unless it inconveniences them.

Something needs to be done. India and China are spewing straight black exhaust into the air, we have to spew less otherwise the planet will overheat.
