What is the live load for the drop deck and flat beds? Most want 48 feet of flat beds and the drop decks vary.

Just had a load pop up for a 48 foot drop deck, Jacksonville Fl to Memphis Tn.
No tarp or oversize and pays 2.22 per mile at HHG mileage of 686 miles.
Pay is 1,525.00 for the load.
Loads out today and two days to deliver, only problem is that the carrier must be registered and all the paperwork filled out and approved before anyone will get loads like this. Casual or fly in and fly out drivers will never see these loads. -
Not quite the season yet down there

When produce starts running rates go up

I guess I am spoiled running tanker now, I wouldn't touch a load under $3 a mile and I don't own the trailer and don't pay the cargo insurance either.
I give it up to those of you running your own authority, I don't know how you all do it??? But keep up the good work -

I currently am on a dedicated account running 2,600 miles a week but I only make $1.64 a mile. But it is drop n hook, dry bulk non-hazmat and weighs 4,500 pounds loaded and empty back, 3.5 day run. So I get flat rate but only work 40hrs a week. The 3 days off is worth it, plus it's year round work.bullhaulerswife and Les2 Thank this. -
I pull a reefer van and many of the juice companies pay anywhere from $.75 to $1.00 per mile, including FSC. I can still make a profit, but am choosy about where I pickup and where I deliver. Tropicana pays the worst of the juice companies and I refuse to haul their freight.

At $1 pm, how are you making money??? Tractor and reefer fuel must be eating up around 80-85c per mile, add in maintenance and insurance, and what is left for driver wages and profit???
Don't ever complain about low rates, because you are part of the problem. Let their #### oranges sit on the dock and rot.123456, BigBadBill, jardel and 1 other person Thank this. -
I am pulling chilled juices that are paying $1.50 plus or minus a dime. I have learned who to pull for and who not to pull, plus knowing the delivery location. After all expenses are paid, I am still making a profit. On the turn around back to FL I am making $2.00 to $2.50.
One of the things I have noticed is companies like Prime, England and Marten seem to undercut the smaller carriers. They seem to break even to pull out of the state while making it unaffordable for locals to haul.
