I am just starting out with USA truck and found this site afterwards. I seen all the things that are written about USA (mostly bad.) I have been with USA for a month and can't really yell about too many things. Yes the trucks are able to be passed by a turtle and I feel like pulling my head into a shell on the highways, but that I can live with. I have averaged close to 3000 miles a week and to me that is doing good. I never waited longer then 45 min on a load and I get around my home area a few times in my time out. most of the time I request a load that goes close to the house when I need a 34 hour restart and my fleet manager does it for me and don't count it against my hometime ( that is great for me) I am not sure if this is a common practice with other companies in the industry (if it is please let me know.) I hear people yell that the miles are to short but on average I am dispatched only about 50-60 miles shorter then actual again I am not sure if this is good or not but it isn't that bad to me (not sure if I really want to know if it is bad) I did miss my home time request by 1 day but again that was not really that bad for me. I think that it would be hard to get a load to go to the area of everyones hometown at the exact time that the driver wants, but again I am new to the industry and not sure if it is good or not. well thank you guys for your imput and haveing this great site to help all the newbees and not so newbees get info on the companies and the laws.
just starting out

it is all in how you respond to what you are getting from the start. I have hear alot about the miles dropping off when you get your raises but after talking to some of the other drivers I learned that it only happens when you are acting out of sorts from what they want from you. it is like a tight rope, just walk on the line for as long as you can stand. I know a few people that have worked here from the start and are going on 2 and 3 years and their miles never dropped. you shouldn't be so negative all the time and try to bring others down and fill them with doupt and sorrow. that will only breed more misery. Sometimes you need to find the good in a bad situation, believe me I have had my share this week alone but the world did not stop and I am still going to make miles. pick your chin up out of the dirt and look around at what you are doing for a living and think about what you are making, you will see that it is not that bad. and as far as being charged $600 there most have been a reason for the charges and you was just to upset to see them. -
Tom I am not saying that these guys are the best but they are not as bad as what some of these people make them out to be. you have to shrug off somethings that may downright piss you off untill you finish your year but keep looking on the brightside of everything, that will help you from doing foolish bs and getting charged for things or haveing something bad on your dac report. read this site it is very helpfull in most parts of this industry -
That is kinda what i figured.Being a newbie i know you go to start from the bottom and work your way up.I am real eager to do well in this new career of mine and plan on being positive.

I worked for USA for six months. They kept me busy. Too much northeast for me. They got me home when i requested. I left for better pay. I went to JB Hunt(not my best move) but i did go from .28/mile at USA to .40?mile with JB.
Good luck. Not that bad a company to start with. -
