Ate there really companies that just haul stumps?

 

Apparently there are folks who are "stumpers for Knight" around here.

 

The people who don't make money are the ones who stop at every truck stop, drive 200 miles a day,won't drive at night,refuse short loads. I can't complain about knight. I take whatever comes over qualcomm and by the end of the week it all adds up. I have insurance, and my take home pay every week is between 650 and 925 dollars consistently. I get 2100-3000 miles a week. Don't be lazy and you will make money.

 

How much home time do you normally get?

 

Something doesn't add up at all.

2100 x .33 = $693 so after taxes and insurance it's impossible to "take home" $650 a week. Even if you got the bump to .35 a mile for shorties, it's $735 a week. After insurance and taxes.....

Unless you mean gross, not net.

 

I drove for knight for 6 years, for the first 3 I made out like a bandit. 140k miles a year. It was all downhill after that till I chose to leave. Not to mention most of that "half dozen" still get the occasional call from the big red ret@rd seeing if we have developed amnesia and wish to return to employment with them.

 

My first 3 years at knight I was over 140k every year. I was home for the week between christmas and new years plus about 4 days a month. That equals 7.8 weeks hometime. So 140k/44.2weeks = 3167miles per week so I think your selling yourself short settling for that range.

or depending on how many trips u can transflow in before the deadline, i've had a few checks in the $925-$975 range.......
