You ever noticed the only people who like these junk carriers are new people who know they have no choices for the time being? It's good some people make the best of a terrible situation but you really have to wonder about someone that proudly displays a million mile sticker for one of these recycling mills.

I have plenty of choices available to me. Yet, I remain with Swift.

I have read horror story after horror story about O/Os not paying people they hire, small companies with pi**-poor equipment that hasn't seen a shop since the "BFI" company that sold it to them refurbished it, inability to get home because the company has no freight base, dealing with ##*hat brokers, being forced to run illegal, refusing to repair things correctly and inevitably going out of business and skipping town.

I like the stability and predictability of a large company with a freight base that can get me anywhere in the contiguous 48 within a week and checks that don't bounce.

The $1,100 after expenses and setting aside for maintenance for 2,600 miles each week isn't too bad either.

But, according to many, I need to screw myself around to find something to hate. Because it's, well, ...Swift. It has the flavor of BS that I can tolerate. I expect there is more than a handful of Werner drivers who feel the same way.

    Good point Injun!!!

Dna Mach.....regaurdless of companies reputation.....if the guy/gal has been with the company long enough to rack up 1,000,000 miles; obviously that driver (and company) has found something that works for them. What's wrong with that?

    Injun Thanks this.

I often wonder the same thing, BDP. Yet, all you have to do is peruse the bad company threads for a half hour or so and you will find at least three. Most of them are reports on companies with fewer than 100 trucks.

I believe the "force" in play is money and the threat of job loss in conjunction with a bad DAC report. Want to ruin a driver? Place an abandonment on his or her DAC.

Which brings me to another point. So many times, I hear about inaccuracies and outright lies being placed on DAC reports by vindictive dispatchers at large companies. Apparently, all you have to do is move on to a "better" job for this to happen. When I left Swift the first time, I left with a single incident on my DAC....that I earned, fair and square when I was a 90 Day Wonder. When I left Prime, I left with a clear DAC. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but I have never personally seen it, nor have any of my associates in this industry reported it. When I have seen claims of inaccurate DAC reports, then dig a little deeper, it seems most (not all) of the time, the "ding" was earned just like mine was four and a half years ago.

So I just got off the phone with a Werner recruiter I let her know that I had 2 tickets and a accident last year the lady told me "we over look those if you had military experience or a family member working for us" I was like " great I'm in the national guard and I want over the road" she just told me " we only got regional for national guard members or reserve since we have got in a lot of trouble because of them missing drill dates" so she continue with all her speech about how great was,the company guaranteeing me weekends at home and some kind of program about cashing in my g.I bill over 1000 a month thats when I had to stop her because I feel they might take a chunk of my precious g.i bill. That company almost got me. Still I might go for the ride to Allentown if I don't like the orientation I will get some stuff from Amish stores and head home!
