I prefer to hand deliver my form to my local IRS office so that I can get a stamped receipt immediately.

    Gears and 07-379Pete Thank this.

Me too since there is an office near me. My IRP renewal happens to be in Feb so via mail probably would work too but not gonna take chances.

NY State has HUT and if you dont pay, they place it against the truck's VIN.
Whomever purchases the truck next, can't legally operate in NY STATE until this back tax is paid.

Before buying any rig - you can call NY State Tax Dept and ask them if the VIN has anything behind it.

My company deducted $550 from my settlement way back in July. The company has 3000 owner operators, this works out to $1.65 million dollars they have stashed in their bank earning interest all this time til the 2290 is due. The company with a heart of gold...

I don't see how the company can deduct for a 2290 unless you are doing a lease or lease purchase with them. I don't think they will make much on interest with rates so low. I would think that if they deducted the funds from everyone's settlements that it would be covered in their contract or lease agreement.

I do mine online, and usually have it back within a few hours of filing it. This year was only about an hour. :biggrin_25525:
