At the customer in New Brunswick , NJ waiting to unload . I can always count on detention time here . The last time I was headed here I had driven over 600 miles of the 900 miles from the shipper when I got a call the order had been canceled . The trip back to the shipper paid very well .
I was lucky to get a hotel last night . Thousands of people in the area are without power and have filled the hotels .
For those wondering why we don't have APU's , most of our loads are regional dedicated , 1 or 2 days out then return empty . Most of the trucks are parked at the terminal 2 to 4 nights a week so the return investment on an APU would take more than twice as long as it would on an OTR tractor .

The ROI on an APU could never be reached on my truck. I idle only when absolutely necessary.

That's a personal choice if you don't want the added comfort. The thing about an APU is you can take it off your truck and move it to your new truck. Whether it takes 2 years or 4 years to get your ROI, you do finally achieve it. The APU cost X to run and the truck costs Y to idle. If you only use it half as much means it will last twice as many years.

Well , been here 4 hours and it looks like they'll be finished soon . Just about normal for here . They didn't cut into the driving time on the 14 hour clock too bad .
