Do *you* check your fifth wheel pin before pulling out?

That I *did* know, but thank you. I always look for advice from those with more experience. This has happened enough that I know right away what to do if I can't pull the handle. No more blond-standing-there-trying-to-figure-it-out moments from THAT, thankfully!!!! Grin

I may look wacky to other drivers, but I always get under trailer and visually check. After doing this for the past few years, now it has become routine, just like hooking up the glad-hands. Sure, I get a few looks from other drivers, but I refuse to drop a trailer!

This goes along with backing if more drivers would get out and look rather than being worried about looking like a rookie in front of the rest of the turds in the bowl.

I've seen some obviously long time drivers get out and look when backing at the truck stops, and they didn't look like a rookie at all to me. They looked like someone who didn't want to back into something, and like someone I wanted to emulate.

If they can do it, I can too!
