You need to carry a paper logbook at all times... enough to record "the current trip" in the case of an EOBR failure per section 395.16.

Some durn rest area north of Mt. Vernon IL.

that's the same thing logs said last nite when i told them i didn't have one.. i asked why it wasn't issued to me along with the little green bible and hazmat book (i dont even have an "x" endo), he said they don't issue them out, and i replied "then that's why i dont have one". he laughed and told me to get one and dont forget to send the PO in with my trip.. i fixed the QC though, found out why it went down to begin with, and found a log book (after i had bought one) while i was tracing wires in the truck to find out where the link was broken.. So we're all good now.

Loaded with the bubbly stuff, deliver two hours south west from where i'm at in the "am" and then head north to Dothan, Al to reload for NJ..

Between loads in Cranbury, parked on a roadside, very glad to see Miss Sunshine. So what if it got a bit colder? A chance to dry out is worth it!

i'm a fool, so i dont come across too many people that i leave a stain with. everyone at my terminal knows my name (i think it's strange cause only a month ago did i find out who my terminal manger was) and it always seems to get louder when ever i walk into the terminal (lakeland is a really small terminal). After thanksgiving i got called into the terminal about my speeding ticket, my DM didn't know that safety had put me on probation, and that they weren't going to fire me , but they informed him before i got there. I walk into the terminal and everything has changed (i'm only there once a month). They moved all of the dispatchers into one room which really isn't big enough. I walk around the corner and see it and bust out laughing.. One DM ask me what's so funny, and i say "It smells like arse and anger in here", grown men start giggling and my DM says that the arse is probably Kevin, and the anger is a little bit of all of us.. the whole time our terminal manager who dispatches also is on the phone, and he is LOUD!! I look over at a guy that dispatches reefer and asks if every time the terminal manager gets on the phone does he have to put his call on hold, he just smiles and everyone laughs.

so much for the preplan, i normally get those when ever my DM is at work, when i have the subs, it's usually a phone call asking when will i be able to drop and when can i pick up.. they wont send a preplan, it just pops up as a dispatch once i send the empty call. i guess it's just one of the cons of being part of such a small terminal.. for the most part i'm sure most of our terminals are under staffed. Phx is most likely the only one running near 100%. I've been to fully operational terminals where there's only three people working during the week, and no weekend crew.
