I love Love's for their coffee and 44 ounce iced teas, but I can't take Abby for walks around there because of all the Chester the molester chicken bones lying around all over lol. These truckers chew off the meat and toss the bones out as they walk back to their trucks then toss them out their windows randomly as they drive out to get back on the big road. Abby loves it though, I always hear her chewing and crunching on chicken bones at any Loves.
Kingman AZ bound for San Diego. Load isn't due til Friday so aiming for Otay Mesa Pilot tomorrow for staging.
OH and the Swiftie next to me was trying to slide his 5th wheel 45000 pounds in the trailer. Ummm yeah, put your landing gear down first then dump your airbags. In case your mentor never showed you....
Good night from...

St. Joseph MO.
What a fun day.
Picked up a load last night (well, the night before now) and ran out my 14 to the minute.
It delivered this morning at 0200, so I didn't start my clock until just before 3pm.
Everything was fine until I went on-duty and started my pre-trip.
I had idled the truck several times the night and morning before that afternoon and, nothing wrong.
As soon as I started the motor, after I went on-duty, I got a 'Shut Engine Off' warning.
Since I had to scale the load, I did that hoping the warning would clear itself.
No such luck.
So I call on-road.
I happened to be at a truck stop with a Swift approved repair shop.
After about 1.5 hours I was rolling.
On-road wanted the fuel filters changed first. That wasn't the problem, as it turns out.
It was a bad contact in the turbo actuator something or nuther.
But since I had over 500 miles to go to my live unload I was unsure if I still had the hours to do it.
I actually made it only 1/2 hour after my appointment time, and had 19 minutes left on my 14 when I shut down.scottied67 and Zukimart Thank this. -
Olathe, KS, I-35 exit 215.. Some lil gas station, shell.
What a night.. showed up to my shipper, was a p/u, but it wasn't ready. I waited 3hrs to get this load, leaving me close on my 500mi run. Right out of the gate it snows, and snows up the us63 all the way, icy roads etc.. sucked. Before I left shipper, I mac 22 and gave my self 2hrs, but ended up getting to my delivery 45mins earlier than actual delivery time.. I was shocked.
Backed into an alley doc, snowing like crazy, w/ 1hr left on my dot. Guys kick it out, unloaded me in 15 mins, leaving me 45 to find this hole in the wall spot. I get here, one spot left. Daaaamn.
Think from now on im going to decline these 500+mi runs that deliver in 11hrs. Don't mind running in snow, but at night, black ice, fog... you can have it, ill sit n drink coffee lol..
Hate these tight runs, hurts my nerves.scottied67 Thanks this. -
Next time you have to be in that area, mapquest the Cabela's. Last time I was there, they had truck parking. There's a bbq joint close by...and some other restarant. Plus, Cabela's has some sort of cafe inside.
Zukimart Thanks this. -
I passed right by there, and its funny you should mention that. I parked at one in Texas a few times, and thought..hmmm, wonder if.. but when yer rolling on yer last 45mins its best to b-line to yer intended destination, just incase

In Fontana at the terminal with about 150 other drivers. Sounds like I'll be sitting a few days. I've never seen so many swift tractors hooked to trailers before. I've seen very few leaving with loads.
scottied67 Thanks this. -

Ontario CA, lot is pretty full, seems like White Knight said, no freight. I got up early this morning, took my shower, did 2 loads of laundry while scarfing all you can eat breakfast buffet, washed truck, engine, trailer, the works while clothes were in the dryer, then bought a used virgin
drive tire to replace one that I had bought just a few months ago (retread-- crap).
I feel nice and tired now, will sleep well tonight, hood pointed east and my head pointed north just like I like. Last night did not sleep well with the hood pointed north. -
This is why one may consider "verifying" thier logs.
Played mailman today, through ice, wind rain and snow ... MO on my way to Denver. -
Also here at Fontana. the planner told me that I will be outta here tomorrow afternoon. (hehe) My DM told me this afternoon that I would have had a better chance staying in Commerce City instead of comming here. Different planning area. Do not know what he was smoking. drivers are getting out by way of PTA's. Talked to a couple that got here yesterday and were pplaned today, but their load pu late Friday afternoon. What happened to priority between O/O and company drivers. Guess that does not apply anymore.
