I honestly think Peterbilts are overrated. Now before this causes a riot let me explain. I don't think that they are POS trucks at all. I just think that everybody treats them like they are the Rolls Royce of class 8 trucks. I'm just not all that impressed with them. They look good, I will give that, and the aftermarket dress items are definitely the most available for Petes over other brands, 379s especially. However, I just think that the mass quantity of them on the road has kind of soured their appeal as far as I go.
I pissed off a driver one time who was bragging to me about his....you guessed it....Pete 379! He was talking the usual about how he had an 18 speed with a Cat engine and such and such pipes and so on, how many thousands of dollars he'd spent specing it out and dressing it up. I just said "Wow a Pete 379! NEVER SEEN ONE OF THEM BEFORE!"
The brand loyalty with their owners reaches almost ridiculous levels too. I've heard a Pete owner in the same conversation talk about how awesome his truck was and the W900 owner he was arguing with had a POS. It didn't seem to occur to him that both are owned and assembled by PACCAR and share many components.
My feeling is that there are way more interesting truck models out there to spec, tune, and dress that appeal to me far more. My goal is to be an owner op someday and granted that I probably won't be able to start with my dream truck up front. But as I work my way to what I want, I will have this order of preference as project choices.
1. Ford L9000 or Aeromax
2. Mack Vision
3. Freightliner FLD
4. Kenworth T660
5. Kenworth W900 -
I like the new 2012 kenworth t700 that's pretty nice.

One truck I'd like to pilot before I hang it up is the Lonestar.
bfroment1979 Thanks this. -
Given USA Trucks inept maintenance dept, I would think the best truck is one that runs great has no issues and makes you money.
-
thanks guys
chemsoldier I like the list Ford all the way -
I think the OP, from Poland, was asking about the best truck in the US, not anything about USA Truck...
