Benton, AR @ Pilot I30 ex121.
Gps, mine & QC, sent me right, rather than left this morning and I got turned around. Was funny, too. I pulled over @ some little grocery/liquor store to ask for directions. Soon as I walked in I hear, in a 4 person echo, Home Depot..? Lol yup, I guess im not the only one, huh. Lady said, well least yer smart enough to stop here, last guy went further down and got stuck.scottied67 Thanks this. -
Always always check that Mac 12 and 23. Today I didn't do that and almost got popped for a ticket. I saw the route said hwy 17 to the shipper, my GPS wanted me to go further down the freeway to hwy 53 and take a country scenic route. I could blow up the GPS map and see the flag indicating the shipper was right there to the right, why go 12 miles up, 5 miles back down around? Well, I'm going down 17 and this car way up ahead pulls into my lane (2 lane road), I slow down then the car goes back to his lane, stops and the guy gets out with his cell phone and takes my picture as I go by. I look in the mirror, he's making a phone call now. That's when I saw the sign that read Trucks 15 Tons Max. Too late to turn around, I bust for the intersection of 17 and 53 up ahead. Light was green and rolled a right turn through it nice and smooth and straightened out grabbing gears. Right then over the knoll, this trooper is speeding in the opposite direction on 53 but he was too late to catch me in the act, he flipped a youE and followed me for about a mile trying to trip me up lol, then he called no joy and went below the harddeck.
In other news I had emptied out yesterday (Saturday) afternoon and was prepared for a 34 hour break. In fact I even got up around 2 am local and sent mac 30, no loads available so settled in. Couple hours later they sent me 2 stacked loads. 1st was go 250 empty miles for 447 loaded and the next was go from there 250 miles empty for 1050 miles. Right away I didn't like the 33% deadhead plus the 2nd one said No Kenworths so figured to be drifting out in the middle of the high plains on that 1st load. Then I get the guilt trip message -- "we really need your help on this one..." lol So I send back 'I need an empty.' They respond, "It's already in your special comments on the load origin." So I read that and it's not there. Then someone else sends a message, "You have to commit, then we send the empty solution."
By now, the load is going to be way late anyway, all snow all the way, too much deadhead, likely can't get the second load anyway, so I just turned it down. They send back an urgent message, "NO Freight in your area!:" I was OK with that because I could just finish my 34 and be available first thing Monday morning. Not 10 minutes later another offer comes in but it's intermodal trailer going 800 miles which I thought was weird. So I asked about that and it was removed and another load offer was sent (so much for no freight lol) which I did accept and hence here I am splitting my break up at some weigh station eastbound on I80.Last edited: Feb 12, 2012

Crowley, LA Petro, I10 x76. First load on the new/old truck from Laredo to Durham, NC. Made 534 miles and parked w 15 minutes left on 14 (live load). Only problem was loose headlight bulbs and getting brake checked by an idiot in Houston on 59. Some people need a Ma Duece spanking!

Woke up with a few inches of snow on the ground. Crud... So much for that early delivery today.

What is the per diem situation in Swift? Can you opt out?
-
If you want it, you have to opt in ... your desision and they recommend you speak with your tax advisor before you decide to take it.

McComb, MS I-55 exit 13 @ the Loves

Drew, TX. A little excitement today. Was just comming down US-287 out of Ft. Worth, and all of a sudden, brake lights and everyone is stopping on both the North and South Side. No accident anywhere. Get closer, a horse that got out of its fence. Bounding back and forth from the median to its home. DPW all over trying to capture it. the only saving grace, it did not want to jump the blocks getting into the south bound lanes.
