I thought the same E X A C T thing. People have been complaining about the same things for decades probably. It's the nature of the beast.

Netflix popped up another trucking movie so I had to watch it. This one had a twist though. It's a Russian movie and was subtitled. It was the first movie with subtitles I had seen in a very, very long time. The name of the flick is 'My Joy' and it is from 2010.

IMDB.com gives the summary as "The story about a few days in the life of truck driver Georgi seems to be a never-ending nightmare, a spiral of violence and abuses of power. A man goes to work and on his way he is sucked into the everyday madness of his country, losing his health and memory in the process. A dark parable about the situation in deep Ukraine today."

Kind of an interesting movie, I've seen a heck of a lot worse.

"Big Trouble in Little China" got me considering trucking in the first place. the movie almost has nothing to do with trucking other than Kurt Russell being a trucker...still got me thinking about trucking. i'm sure reality's a lot different (i don't see many actual truckers; being born and raised in los angeles city), but the character of Jack Burton is my trucker archtype...driving late at night, all alone, telling a story to anyone listening on his cb. he's basically a lonely drifter with a lot of stories to tell.

(side note) john carpenter made that and other movies...the most famous probably being the "Halloween" series. i prefer his non-horror movies though. "Escape from New York", "Ghosts of Mars", and especially "Big Trouble in Little China" and "They Live"...so many great one-liners in "They Live".

(on a really geeky side note) someone mentioned the trucking episode in the anime Cowboy Beebop, i would also like to add an episode (in either the anime or manga or both) in "Great Teacher Onizuka". it was hilarious bit that involved trucking, something drivers should never do, but funny nonetheless.

Definitely. An old needle nose Pete smoking like a freight train. Favorite seen is when he gets stuck under the bus bumper and then gets away and the truck comes up and helps the bus haha

How could I forget "Space Truckers" (1996) with Dennis Hopper (one of my favorite actors)?

IMDB.com details it as "John Canyon is one of the last independent space transport entrepreneurs. Rough times force him to carry suspicious cargo to Earth without questions being asked. During the flight the cargo turns out to be multitude of unstoppable and deadly killer robots."

I saw this flick in the science fiction section of a local dvd store recently. I remember the "square pigs" in the movie...

IMDB score gives it a 4/10. One of the lowest scores I think I've seen there. Ha!
