I've been sitting at this truck stop since Monday afternoon. Finally got a load out tomorrow morning (Thursday) going towards home, but about 120 miles short. Whatever, better than the 400 miles of deadhead I almost pulled the trigger on earlier today.

Well, you lumped in the winds, then complained about the slow trucks...

On the other hand, if you had a faster truck by a couple MPH you may have been just in time to have been hit by that oncoming car just as it crossed over.
For all you know, you could have been checking your right mirror to see if you could clear FFE just as the car came into your lane - and quite possibly the slower truck saved your life.

    Never know.

If only we could go back in time and replay things, with just such a twist, eh?

    Me?
    I am near KC, KS.

Delivered that very tight load 1/2 hour earlier than Plus-1 schedule, worn out from too little sleep the past 2 nights and too few breaks these past 2 days.
Not to mention, the time change hosed me out of an hour because I picked up in AZ. (They don't do DST, so they are the same as PDT time.)

And, not to mention, I got snagged in NM for a DOT inspection at a weigh station. (I pull up to the shack, the lady calls on her radio and says something about... "I got a Swift here"... then laughs, and then tells me to pull around to bay 2)
I lucked out though. As the inspector was doing his thing, another inspector comes in to speak with him and the rear doors open.
He tells me that it will be a short inspection and to move out.
I think they had another truck they wanted to see more than mine.
So I get a clean bill of health with the once over of lights, brakes and horns and such - only cost me 15 minutes.

Got a nice pplan picking up at 1130 tomorrow and delivering ~500 miles away at 1100 the next day.
Had to turn it down though, since I'll be on safety hold by Saturday if I don't get a 90-day bit inspection, and the delivery was nowhere near a terminal.

Currntly only about 20 miles from Edwardsville, so I'll sleep in a bit and head there in the morning

Just waking up on the OH TPike. Just gotta love that plus one. Picked up at 10 last night, and plus one sent me a new PTA, 03/16 at 0800, 1100 miles away. I sent in my ldd call for eta at 1600, and nothing has been said. Was told open window, and the assignment says open window until 2359 on the 16th. 6500 lbs of chips and a little bit of a tailwind.

What Cheer, IA. Can not believe this weather. Actually had the air on in the truck, and this is only the middle of March. Temp reached 81 here in IA. Started out with a nice tailwind, and of course, did not last. Still avg 8.2.
